I keep reading about support for CD. I will be among the first to acknowledge that he has been great for us, but lets not get totally blinkered here. There are numerous occaisions when he receives the ball and tries to do it on his own even though there "IS" support and players HAVE got into good positions. If other players tried the same thing the shouts from the crowd would be "Pass the the fcukin ball for christ sake " but because he`s done well for us he seems exempt from any of this. As for Liam Wright and Harry........I thought they both had a decent games . Rob Hughes could have done better and that`s probably why he was substituted, although I think Wozza should now be put back on in the hope that he now understands that he has to fight for his place the same as the rest, and that he can recapture some of last seasons goal scoring form. Yesterdays overall performance was not bad, bare in mind Newport are contenders for a play off spot. Andy K`s comments are spot on for me, a pretty fair summing up.

I'm gutted. A draw would have been nice. Thats when a point is most valuable, when the others around us lose. A win wont help if they win too. The relegation derby's are becoming very important. (plea to o.s. to continue 'Stats a new Season').

Very disappointing for me. We performed well, but what really got me was that we had 2 players on the bench that could have changed the game for us and we only put one on with 5 mins to go! There was a point at least for the taking there and we just didn't go for it. At all. And thats VERY hard to take. To be honest, we need to be really throwing ourselves into games every week, but we're not. It's going to take something huge to get out of this now and I can't see where it's going to come from unless we have a big signings splurge VERY soon.

I agree with Taz, basically. Although Warren hasn't been delivering of late, I was surprised that he wasn't given at least 20 minutes and that Jason wasn't on from the start. I can't really see us getting out of trouble without at least 3 new experienced players, but it's obviously proving difficult to attract people to a relegation dogfight.

Whilst I understand grunt's comments about CD to some extent, let's face it, most of the goals he has scored for U's have been by him showing a selfish streak & running through brick walls to do it. He's been playing as a lone striker for so long now, he's probably forgotten when there is another option. 8 goals in 10 league matches in a struggling team is a fine return & he looks like the only guy likely to score!
Perhaps too, he has confidence in his own ability.

I was highlighting the constant "Dundas needs support" quotes which seem to follow every game. I feel that sometimes people only see what they want to see. I cant disagree that another striker with his current strike rate would not go amiss but to keep whining that he has no support is not the correct way of saying that, and is demeaning to players who bust a gut to offer support and take up good positions only to be left frustrated as their efforts were in vain.
