Maybe others will tell me I am wrong but thought be did more than enough to win that game? We gifted the softest pen you are ever like to see, and basically Newport offered sod all except to watch us huff and puff all afternoon like the wolf in the 3 pigs story. I just feel so frustrated tonight as we are not a bad side, we are not getting the rub of the green and just cannot bloody score. If we had support for CD we would be climbing out of trouble, just one player that's all we need. One lapse in defence other than that a decent performance.

Seemed to me that both sides cancelled each other out. One of the better performances this year, and our all too common 'buckle' didn't happen. Only a stroke of luck split the sides up, both teams having half scoring chances, but neither creating real gold top stuff. Almost a fair result, a draw would have been fairer. No moans about luck, reffing or anything really. What we did show is we can compete with teams higher than us in this division, and this team is good enough to be here, yet we still facing a likely relelgation (but by no means certain). Only plus side is with the exception of Stale buns who whipped Dorchester 3-0 at their place, all the other teams near the bottom all lost.

Overall this was a better performance than against Bath and Fisher, and the return of Paul Honey may have something to do with that.
I'm pleased that EH stuck with 4-4-2 and it looked more effective than against Met Police. I'd question starting with Scarborough, Haverson, Henry and McBean all on the bench. But loanee El-Salahi looked fairly assured in the centre of defence alongside Tom Hughes, and I thought Rob Hughes and Liam Wright had decent games in the wide positions. But Harry Ottaway didn't look quite ready for a match against a side of Newport's calibre. Scoring twice against a ten-man Met Police side is a slightly different ball game.
We were perhaps a little unlucky to lose. But this was a match we really needed to win. Since mid December we've taken 8 points from 8 games. Although that's a better rate of accrual than earlier in the season, it's not going to keep us up.

Not much to add to the previous comments really. I would say that we were certainly worthy of a draw today. Also Thought the new loan signing at the back looked very good. Very fortunate that other results went our way ( if that`s at all possible ) and that its not over yet but time/games are running out and i just hope that we start getting the rub of the green soon. The ref was OK, nothing more, nothing less, but it looked like he was having a collection for the league funds with his flashing of the yellow cards for some silly things yet the things that warranted a booking went unpunished . Have to say that their No6 should be careful, the abuse he gave to EH`s assistant for not fetching the ball quick enough for his liking could have got him booked or even sent off !!!!!!!!!!!! Would have loved to have played against him, if he spits his dummy out that easily I reckon I could have wound him up so tight he would have needed counseling Thought they were not a bad side to be fair. Certainly more experienced and very workmanlike. They closed us down quickly, broke up the play and counter attacked with pace, which I felt on todays performance we matched in our own sort of way So it`s not all doom and gloom If they are honest they`ll have thought that they would turn up today and just take the points. Yet they didn`t get the winner in open play and we created a few opportunities that on another day could have made the scoreline very different

Good game, good performance, at last going 4-4-2.
Unlucky today really, on balance I think we could argue that we had the better of the chances and fouls, sorry assaults, on Dundas in the box warranted a penalty on two occasions. Sadly the ref, who had a good game overall, proved the rule that in the box it's not a foul but outside the box it would be. In fact he gave at least two free kicks against Dundas for lesser offences than said penalty shouts.
Oh well, lots to be taken from today, Karim impressed and we played well with no luck, too little too late?

tbh that result has sent us down imo, its going to be hard to get back and with stalbans winning 3-0 against dorchester. i do hope there is a miracle.

Not really, with other results going for us we are where we were yesterday. The Stalebuns result is not really a problem to us as we need to stay in touch or within striking distance of Welling and Bognor. Make no mistake we will need to do the double over Bognor and beat Welling at home but we won't get that opportunity unless we pickup point along the way.

I won't beat about the bush here at the risk of getting shot down. Rob Hughes was awful and clearly not up to Conference south standard.Liam Wright wasn't in the game and Harry Ottaway should not be playing 90 minutes. We need a striker and at least one wide man if we are to survive.

One further observation from today, there more Met Police at GGL today then there were at Tuesday's game against, erm, Met Police.

I agree woth Delboy here. Rob Hughes is nowhere near good enough fora Blue Sq. South side, his movement, passing and general ability and strength is not good enough.
Very surprised to see the likes of Scooby on the bench, we need experience in the side, heard something about him not being fully fit but we can't rely on 6-7 teenagers to get us out of this hole, no matter how good they are proving to be.
We are now desperate for a wide player and some support for Craig up front or we are doomed.
