Full time, lost 1 nil and yet again denied a clear penalty I'm told.
Looks as though Bognor won at Lewes but other results maintain the status quo at the bottom.
St Albans 0 Maidenhead 3 Eastleigh 3 Dorch 1 Welling 2 Cambs 6 Lewes 0 Bognor 1 (I think)

Great win for Bognor, looks like they've got every chance of getting out of it now. Welling look the the only realistic target now, but of course that would mean us getting some decent players and and winning a few games!!! Any danger Ernie?...

Yes the ref was crap and linesman ignored the most blatant penalty you are ever likely to see and yes it was only 1-0. But we had no shots on target in the entire 90mins, Bromley just sat back and soaked up our pressure with ease to be honest. Our defence without Scooby is too inexperienced with the simplest of long balls causing all sorts of problems, that type of ball should be meat and drink to even an average defence. The only way we were going to score today and last week is if CD wins a high ball brings it down and beats 3 defenders before slotting the ball home.
Bognor's win today was massive for them, Maidenhead look to have too many points now even if they stutter to the finishing line. Welling are now the only realistic targets on 21pts and they play at home to Newport on Tuesday, a Welling win puts us 9pts from safety before we play again and barring a miracle that ensures Ryman football for us.
I am now the worlds biggest Newport fan for the next 4 days, our Connie sth life is in their hands ?

Loads of spirit, some endeavour & a positive second half performance, but....as said above not one shot on target in 90 mins. CD once up front on his own for much of the match, so when we did find decent possession on the flanks there was either one or no one to find in the box.
We had the lions share of possession in the second half but Bromley still looked more likely to score. I thought Harry had his best full 90 mins, showing much purpose on the right, while Liam Wright took the game to his opponents with some strong & skilful running. Ug was everywhere, highly industrious. As in the SS match, the defence looked susceptible to the through ball & that's how their goal arrived. McDonnell peeled away from his marker to find the space to play a ball through to Williams whose finish was excellent.
As for the ref - bloody awful. Although Craig was given a buffeting, it took him 36 mins to give us a free-kick in Bromley's half. The penalty decision was simple & he & the cretin running the line both had a clear view. Neither wanted to know, which rather summed up the ref's entire performance. He should have brought his dog with him & walked it around Hayes Lane this afternoon as it would have served more purpose for him save for collecting a match fee he does not deserve.
I've been saying we were down for some months now - if we don't win against Thurrock (who beat Bath today) I think our fate will be sealed.

I can't disagree with previous posts. We looked very ordinary in the first half, playing 4-4-2. We looked better in the second with CD a lone striker, but with Wright and Ottaway pushing up in the wide positions. At times we played some nice passing football, but still Bromley had the clearer chances and their defence dealt fairly comfortably with everything we threw at them. Our best chance would have been from the penalty spot, but Mr Woolford wasn't interested when Dundas was brought down in the box.
We've only conceded one goal in each of the last two league matches, which is an improvement on the four we leaked in each of the previous two. But we've only scored twice in those four games, all of which we lost. I still think that we haven't got a squad strong enough for this level, and our only hope of staying up now is to rely on the misfortunes of other clubs.

Anyone else just really am tired of this season? If it ended tomorrow, it would be a blessed relief. It's been over since October for me to be honest.
We're only getting out of this if the Conference throw out 3 sides for crap grounds. And that ain't happening even if there were 21 grounds worse than ours in this division.......
