All stations will be. They've been doing that announcement at Sutton too. Presumably it's because although they are pretty much in the open air, their staff work on the platforms, which are therefore a workplace.

I once got told via the PA system to get off a bench (i was standing on it) at Sutton Common Station so even though the stations are unstaffed they are watched by CCTV and the PA can be controlled Not that you'd put it out but they could scare the life out of you telling you not to...

It's quite funny when a 'voice from above' tells someone off at an unmanned station.
As for no smoking in pubs etc, it's a bit of a joke and unfair on me. Me by the way is a non-smoker. I've been passive smoking for literally 20 years (parents & then pubs etc) and will now suffer from withdrawl thus having to take up smoking to combat this. Thanks Labour!

Personally, I'm going to enjoy mocking stubborn smokers like Gareth in midwinter when they're popping outside the pub for a fag while I sit inside nice & warm with my beer. ;D

At White Hart Lane there is a full ban in place, not sure how or if they can enforce it at our level.

That follows the argument of three-sided buildings though. Don't think it's the end of the world myself (he says in April 2007 rather than September 2007)...

I guess if you want a smoke, you go stand on one of the open terraces. Which will be nice in the p*ssing rain in mid-january.

Securicor Terrace could count as "open" as it doesn't have a "side" (only has back and roof, so to speak).

I notice that Gareth has been practicing by standing at the front of terraces where its not covered. I take it the section in front of the GGL end will be OK for smoking still. But then again, that's Mark and Millsy's place of work so could it be band there? I'm sure Dave will have sorted out where and where not you can have a puff by next season, it's more the away grounds that should be more of concern to the smokers. By the way station CCTV and long line announcing can be very amusing, say no more!! ;D

Being monitored by CCTV at a distance with a faceless voice should you step out of line. They will soon be tracking our every movement by satellite, they will employ people to mix with society and encourage breeches of the rules to be reported to them. Fox hunters yesterday, Smokers today and who tomorrow maybe the overweight?

If we have cctv installed at GGL maybe a 'floating' ref could tell the usual numpty in the middle when he's made a bad decision. Now there's an idea for FIFA!

Would it be provocative of me to say that i really agree with the smoking ban? (I also feel compleatly non-hypocritical saying this as i don't personally drive, so i don't spoil the lovely air), mainly because as an Asthma sufferer (albeit a minor form) being around smokey areas isn't the best type of situation for me, on a personal level, and also for many people who suffer from Asthma and just little kids in general.
BTW Old Trafford has been a non-smoking stadium for at least 2 seasons, however most stewards there, if they catch you smoking, just let you continue that cigerette and warn you not to get caught smoking again.
