How will the smoking ban affect Sutton next season? Do we know if smoking be allowed in the stand and covered terraces?

Good question, and how will some of the away grounds enforce it? mind you it'll be difficult enough for our lads trying to stop people! Specially the smoking ones!!

Well a covered terrace aint an enclosed space so as far as I am concerned I can keep having a fag. If I thought for one minute it was going to be banned from terraces or stands I would go shove a lighted fag end up Blair's butt along with the other CP correct bigots. This subject makes me really really angry.

Certainly not allowed in any of the bars or other internal rooms. OK on the open terraces, advice being sought regarding the stand and covered terraces. Of course, the natural state of the air is to be free of cigarette smoke so I would argue that the rights of smokers are secondary to the rights of everyone else to breathe clean air. I have no objection to smokers gradually killing themselves though

Tongue in cheek Mr F?
If that's the case then trade in your Merc for a push bike! I so love the anti-smoking brigade who then jump into their fuel guzzling motors & even if they are the cleanest cars on this earth they are still ruining the "natural state of the air".

I will not I will not I will not Bite, too late bloody late car driver hypocrites talking about the right to clean air. It's all about removing rights from marginalised sections of the community who is next to have their rights taken away???

I agree MF, which is why I use public transport as much as I can. Mrs F can cough up blood for several days after being in a smoky room: Mum & Sister died of smoking-related disease. Never touched the obnoxious weed myself so no idea what people find so compelling about it. I'd much rather drown in a VAT of Theakston's

That's pretty clear Stewart, it even mentions football grounds, although at what levels is not considered. How can somewhere like Banstead enforce it for example when the play on the outside pitch? It is a designated ground, because it has to be to hold Suburban / Youth matches.

I believe we've asked the council for guidance. The ground may be okay, but any area with "three walled" sides is not allowed.

You will have no trouble finding the rules in George Orwell's '1984' also known as Labour Party manifesto.

Strangely enough, on the platform at Scummers station this morning, there was an announcement made over the PA that as of 1st July, it would be a non-smoking station.
