Plenty of endeavour again from Sutton but too little penetration. Havant had the beating of us in the air, and looked generally better organised. It's surprising that this was only their second away win of the season (Cup games excepted of course).
I thought Craig Dundas and Harry Ottaway had decent games, and Liam Wright and Jason Goodchild both looked lively when they came on. But I was disappointed by the performances from some of our other players (including two whom Millsy thought "did well"). I also need a bit more convincing that Steffan Ball is the answer to our scoring problems - although I do agree that he can get some power behind those free kicks!
I know that Dorchester and Bognor also lost tonight, but (as observed above) that's not much use to us if we're failing to pick up points ourselves. I'm afraid that the performances and results in our last 6 league games (5 defeats, 13 goals conceded and only 4 scored) provide pretty compelling evidence that we're simply not good enough for this level of football.

Thought we were beaten by a better team. The ref was a pratt, I dont say that for the penalty, although it was harsh, had it been at the other end we would have been screaming at him had he not given it. More for his overall performance really. I thought we were poor, too much long ball hit up to the forwards which H&W looked comfortable with. I agree with Amber Alemans comments about Stefan Ball and as for being able to strike a good free kick I would imagine that any player at the club could take a 15 yd run up and smash it at the wall. Smashing it in the net or getting it on target and forcing the keeper into action is what`s good in my book. I thought Harry looked isolated out wide right and less effective in the second half. Whilst I`m a big fan of CD he needs to pass the ball more as on numerous occasions momentum and opportunity is lost by failing to release it. Rob Hughes really doesn`t do it for me especially his dead ball delivery !!! I agree that there was plenty of effort and endeavor but we need to make that count for something. As for the defence, despite the score I thought they did OK as H&W were a pretty tidy outfit up front and looked at times as if they were playing with three out and out strikers. I have no doubt that they will cause problems for better sides than us. I do however feel that we always look vulnerable against dead ball situations. We have to be realistic, although it would be great to win all our remaining games, it just aint gonna happen. Other results again eased the loss last night, but as we all well know time is rapidly running out. Saturday`s game is going to need to be a massive improvement. Looking at the teams around us they also have tough games, so fingers, legs, eyes and arms crossed.

Looking at our remaining fixtures & going on form, I think the best points return we can expect from the final 13 games is 15. That would give a grand total of 33.
Requiring three other clubs to get less than that is asking a bit much IMO.
As for last night, the lads certainly played better than Saturday but then the oppo had more of an idea of what to do in front of goal than Thurrock.
The penalty decision though was quite crucial as it left a mountain to climb & it was quite awful. I'm not sure how the ref had a good enough view as he was on the other side of the penalty area & it struck AJ on his left side where the ref would have had the least decent viewing angle. The asst didn't flag either. If you can't see it, you can't give it & that's my main gripe as he made a poor decision from a poor viewing point. The fact too that it was blasted at him from a couple of yards is another point. To be an offence, hand ball is meant to be deliberate or at least to have some suspicion of control about it. This incident had neither.
Tosser!
