Anyone of my age bracket will know about Subbuteo (Table Football) and many of them would've played it. I know it's nowhere near as popular as it used to be but it is still out there.
I always thought that we should've brought out a special set for our centenary 1998. However it never happened.
Maybe we could get a limited edition special set produced. I'm sure it would be popular.

I know a guy who produces Subbuteo teams in the UK and he is able to produce ANY team in Subbuteo form - therefore it should be very straightforward to get a team in Sutton United colours - and he can produce any Sutton kit you request from however long ago you wish, as long as you can email him a photo of the U's kit design you want reproduced in Subbuteo form. His website concentrates solely on Subbuteo Rugby, but he also does football teams as well and orders can be placed via his site: worldsubbuteorugby.co.uk/

You can buy them ready to paint with a choice of coloured bases. Unfortunately chocolate isn't an option.
Incidentally I've just bought Melchester Rovers.

I've had kits with brown coloured basis from the guy who runs the website listed above, Dave.

Did I tell you I managed to get a Subbuteo team with the current colours?

Last season a limited 2017 Cup run team was commissioned by Subbuteo. I managed to get one of ebay for £15 at the end of last year. The kit colours are excellent and the players even have coloured boots.
In 1970, a limited addition was made to commemorate the Leeds match back then; i have that too although not in a great condition as it was played to death!

I didn't know they did commemorative sets back in the 1970s.

I'm not a player, but I do know the origin of the name 'subbuteo'. (Apologies to those who already know this story.)
The guy who invented the game wanted to register it under the name 'hobby', but that was refused as being too generic. So he turned instead to the scientific (Latin) name of the bird of prey known as the hobby, Falco subbuteo. The second (specific) part of that name translates, roughly, as 'below buzzard'!

If he had that sort of mind, one might think he'd be able to come up with a better name to begin with!

The new kit is available. Almost perfect although they've got long sleeves.

It was also invented in Tunbridge Wells Didn't know where the name Subbuteo came from though. Are the new Sutton teams the old style or the new one with flexible players on the base?
