With Eastbourne and Newport both winning, its looking like a mad scramble for a play off spot. Salisbury are certain to be in it, but depending on the results it could be very different for the other slots
3 Havant & Waterlooville 41 20 12 9 72 43 +29 72
4 Braintree Town 41 20 11 10 49 37 +12 71
5 Newport County 41 21 7 13 82 55 +27 70
6 Bishop's Stortford 41 20 10 11 69 61 +8 70
7 Eastbourne Borough 41 18 15 8 57 40 +17 69
8 Welling United 41 21 5 15 64 50 +14 68
Fixtures involving these clubs are
Bishop's Stortford v Lewes
Eastbourne Borough v Braintree Town
Fisher Athletic v Havant & Waterlooville
Newport County v Cambridge City
Welling United v Hayes
Now I can't see Stortford, Newport or Havant losing. Welling may come unstuck against a Hayes team fighting for their lives, so I predict a draw, but of course the big fixture is Eastbourne V Braintree, which I have to give to Eastbourne.
This leaves the table like this
Havant 75pts
newport 73
Stortford 73
Eastbourne 72
Braintree 71
Welling 69
At the bottom its slightly clearer
18 Basingstoke 41 -12 42
19 Hayes 41 -26 42
20 Thurrock 41 -24 41
Salisbury V Basingstoke
Welling V Hayes
Thurrock V Sutton
Salisbury will probably be resting a few players for the already secured play off, Welling could have their backs to the wall against a hayes team that have pulled some really odd results out of the hat this season. And as for Thurrock, I think they may suffer to Mr Gaynor in his last game in a Sutton shirt.
My prediction is that 'stoke win, and both Hayes and Thurrock draw. Which of course sends the fleet burger to the delights of the Ryman.
On a more Sutton note, we are two points clear and have a 6 goal superior gd to Bognor in 13th, and +7gd against Cambridge in 14th (who are away to Newport county, not the easiest of grounds to get a point at!)
Unless there is a freak result at Bognor (which is possible against Weston!), a point will confirm our 12th place this season.
