We were absolutely abysmal from the off. The first two goals were amongst the worst we'd given away all season. And thats saying something.
As for the officials, I reffed the first half our game this morning and managed a far better performance than Mr Mcloughlin did yesterday! Clown.

Saturday just re-enforced for me that we are not good enough for this league, and we haven't been all season. There are some 'senior' players who just haven't been up to the job at all this season. It says it all when our best players on Saturday were playing their 1st game after graduating from the youth and reserve teams. It simply isn't good enough, and it hasn't been for 7 months. Roll on the end of the season.

I did something on Saturday that I have never done, or contemplated until Bognor, in 26 years following Sutton.
On the 4th goal I walked out.
I may get critisised for this but frankly I don't care. I have seen enough defeats in my time to handle it. I was not even tempted for the K's semi final. I have been through the other relegations, but they were different. There was always something that kept me at the game and I prided myself on having never left before full time before. But after I was tempted for Bognor (would have gone if we had gone 3 down) I went to the bar and stayed there.
I hate this bloody season.

I know exactly where you're coming from RS....I've done it 3 times now. The K's semi-final, Eastleigh at home a couple of years ago and Bognor last week. This season has been so gut-wretchingly disappointing considering the number of people that literally bleed amber and chocolate 24/7. Having said that, I have to say there was almost a strange sense of relief as I heard the latest scores being read out as Saturday's match went on. Relief that that b*stard thing called "Hope" can finally stop playing on my mind. Relief that 8 months of pressure and non-stop worry are over with, that we can now live up to the fact that we are (as good as) down and can look to the future rather than the god-awful present. Now is the time to release whatever non-contract players we have that we don't want for next season. Save the money, blood in some youngsters, try to get them experience that will stand them in good stead. Let's just go and enjoy the last 6 weeks of the season and try to get the feel-good factor going at the club again. We haven't had it for so bloody long!!

I am concerned that my club is dieing. We have not kept up with the times. How can little clubs, Langley Sports, Lewis, Hampton etc. be above us in a league that was made for us? Dave, Chairman and Board?

I am concerned that my club is dieing. We have not kept up with the times. How can little clubs, Langley Sports, Lewis, Hampton etc. be above us in a league that was made for us? Dave, Chairman and Board? That's the way it goes. Eastbourne are benefitting from being the top club locally, a growing population and little competition in their area. Lewes are a bankrolled club, their success, like Crapstonian, is likely to be unsustainable and shortlived and we'll pass them on the way back up as they go down. H&R is a better comparison, but that's swings and roundabouts. If you look at our historic Surrey competition from when we were all in the same league, Woking are one step up, Tooting, Dulwich & K's are two steps down, Casuals even lower. As long as we remain financially sound and fundamentally well managed (both Board & team), then we will rise again. keep the faith!

BH - the times have been a changing for years. The new order of non-league is with us. Tradition counts for nothing & money is all.
As Tony D stated look at all the other "Surrey" based clubs. Some have been languishing for years. 25 years ago, the Isthmian was top heavy with local clubs. Perhaps that very proximity, geographically, has something to do with it. Not enough to go around.
Look at Enfield, an Essex Senior Lge club, Hendon are having their best season for a long time (save for 03/04) & didn't fancy the Conf Sth.
We just have to face up to it. At least we are still here. There are some promising youngsters at the club that may or may not revive our fortunes, only time will tell.
I'm actually looking forward to a fresh challenge, some new grounds & trips to old "friends". We might even win a few games too!

All very true lads, I know what you say is right, but after Saturday the depression, well you know.

Gareth, if you are literally bleeding amber and chocolate, then I suggest that you visit your GP as soon as you can! Know what you mean though. It hurts
