Sorry for not posting the link (I can’t seem to do it on my mobile!) but on the Vanarama National League site there’s on interview with Morgan Ferrier who signed for Boreham wood yesterday for a club record fee from Dagenham.
It states that Dagenham owner Glyn Hopkins has pulled his money out. This has serious implications for them I would imagine.

I would have a look at their message board too. They’re expecting plenty of players to leave today.
They have Aldershot on Saturday so could get a battering!

Thats a real shame. As much as I dislike the area of Dagenham I consider them to be a 'proper' football club and I was happy to see their progress in league football. I dont know the ins and outs but it looks to me like their troubles are not because of epic overspending, but more likely just trying to compete in league football then losing alot of supporters when they dropped out. That season in League 1 must have been financially draining, trying to compete with the big teams that dropped into that division in the late 00s and the up and comers like Bournemouth.
Clubs like Dagenham are the cornerstones of lower league and non league football and I hope they find a way to compete at this level on a budget that is sustainable. Unfortunately much of their fanbase seems to have drifted away after the 'glory days' and an average attendance of 1492 (pretty much bang on how many were at our game there I recall) is not enough to sustain the size and quality of their squad this season.

Maybe Dagenham in the old days but then again Leytonstone and Ilford were proper football clubs. Then there was Leytonstone & Ilford and Redbridge Forest. Did Walthamstow Avenue merge with leytonstone & Ilford to become Redbridge Forest before they merged with Dagenham? I get confused it’s happened so many times!! No sympathy from me at all.

Lucky we got 6 points off them because a lot of other clubs might do now.

Wonder why the supporters are drifting away. Couldn't possibly have anything to do with charging league 2 admission prices to watch National league football !

The mergers are here nor there. Yes the admission prices are not very friendly but I recall very generous concessions. This could happen to ANY team, including ours. You build a competitive squad on a tight budget, get into league football, budget goes up but still tight, club gets promoted again, budget goes up, ground gets improved substantially, club cant compete and drops back into league 2 and then eventually into non league with a league size wage bill, supporters drift away, club decides to maintain a big squad and chase immediate promotion, doesnt happen and the clubs on the brink.
Are you saying that couldnt possibly happen to any one of a number of traditionally non-league clubs? Its not like they've done a Grays/Billericay etc is it so dont be so quick to judge.

Not being a business man I don't understand the financial explanation.
However losing support is hardly surprising once they got relegated from the League. It could be the same for us. We're attracting big crowds at the moment and if we go into the league they will increase a bit but these glory hunters will soon leave if we get relegated.

I don't know the full details, but I understand that there's a bitter and long-running dispute between a section of the Daggers' fanbase and the people running the club. (Some of you will have noticed the flags at the away end when D&R played at Sutton last month; these are part of the protest, and banned at their home matches.) Major sponsor Glyn Hopkin, who has backed the club management, has just got fed up with it all, and decided to withdraw his investment. Hence the recent fire sale of some of Daggers' better players.
Sometimes you realise how fortunate we are at Sutton, where there's traditionally been a healthy and respectful relationship between management and supporters.
