After a poor start we did get into the game in the second half and just about deserved the point. We missed Craig and Harry tonight, the midfield lacked drive. How did we manage to do so well without them earlier in the season!

According to the Barrow match report Ross Worner was in goal and was booked for denying a goal scoring chance.
Well done to those intrepid supporters who made the trip. You should get a t-shirt printed.

Long old day after leaving my bijou south coast pad (tatty two bed bungalow) at 8.45am and getting back home at 4.05am thus swelling the ranks of massed U's fans at Holker Street last night.
Firstly, massive thanks to Ray for driving including a detour to Warwick University campus - a small town just outside Coventry. Not sure his neighbours will have been to happy with the sound of windscreen scraping at 3am mind you.
After playing the last 25 mins on a heavy pitch on Saturday with ten men then travelling up to Barrow Tuesday morning, missing two influential midfielders and losing Nick B early on, I would say a point at Barrow is a decent return. U's didn't start well and from the first of many long throw-ins (which proved the home sides most potent weapon) Bedse did the dirty on his old club and scored. The ball fell nicely for him; it was a good finish though and his celebration was mildly subdued; in respect of his former club, perhaps? Who knows?
From all their throw-ins I am not sure Diarra won many headers but his threat caused some anxious moments throughout. Gomis was good for them last night as was their left back who gave Tommy W a decent match-up.
After weathering the early storm, U's grew into the match and finished the first half well. Should have had a penalty for handball when the ball struck the elevated arm of a defender well above his head (absolute joke refereeing decision, another home decision of which we have seen many this season on our travels) before Kieron got hold of a shot that was turned around the post by Arnold.
Second half was a more even affair but the throw-in tactic continued. Arguably the best bit of quality of the match came from the Barrow guy who struck the bar with a sweet 30 yarder that looked in all the way until it cannoned off the wood (plastic) work.
Then U's broke away. KC travelled into the box laid a perfect pass to TW who beat Arnold with a low finish. We will have that thanks. Diarra swept a chance well wide while U's were more threatening that they had been all game for the rest of the match. Jamie B was booked for rushing out to the touchline and challenging their player, illegaly, apparently but for the Barrow match report to suggest it was a DOGSO is quite frankly, laughable - no mention of the handball either, there's a thing.
A well earned point and a return to U's colours for Bradley Hudson-Odoi, his first since coming off the bench at Torquay just twelve days shy of a year. The defence did well with Simon D impressing after replacing the stricken Bailey, and Skip for me was MotM for Sutton. Considering all the factors mentioned above a decent team performance and a nice touch by the players set up by Simon D as they all (inc Dos) came over and shook everyone of the ten U's fans' hand behind the goal. #in it together.
Ref had a so, so match with the penalty non-decision the most glaring fault. We have had a lot worse but as seen last Saturday, far, far better. His senior linesman was an idiot though and three times failed to signal ball out of play, relying on the ref to make a decision that wasn't always assertive in its making.
A very big match with Wrexham, next up.

Ft 1-1 A good point in the end. Yep I certainly would've taken a point up there prior to kick-off, Barrow's a tricky place to go at the best of times let alone on a Tuesday night! Glad to get this one ticked off the schedule. Onto Saturday now and thankfully we have Eastmond back from suspension, did Baileys injury look serious? Hope he's not sidelined for too long. Kudos to the fans that travelled yesterday - some effort that!

Poor game but improved from barrow gomis had probably his best game for us since joining from you lot. Would say best of luck for rest of season but do not believe it as i think there should be no artificial surfaces in the football league!!!!!

Out of interest did you come to the "away" game back in September? From what I remember it was an open game where players were able to show their skills and rewarded those watching with 5 goals. I doubt many would make a similar claim based on yesterday's play.
I am interested in that so many have an "attachment" to the purity of "grass football" that is removed from the reality of what is happening with the current level of technology, and adoption of it, across numerous leagues and competition around the world.
Will you give it a try against Maidstone this weekend maybe?
