The youth team beat Leatherhead 2-1 last night in the League Cup semi to earn their place in the final to be played at GGL (10th May). A tight game that didn't see either side play to their ability improved after half-time.
Sonni James scored a cracker having earned space down the left, he cut in on his right foot and drilled his shot into the far top corner. The Tanners levelled with a curling free-kick that was well taken from the edge of the area. The one moment of true football excellence on the night saw Sutton's winner. Stuart Young did well in intercepting a through ball and interchanged passes with Tony Cuff who used his skill to turn and break away from two challenges. He fed Sonni who beat his man and fired across the box where Decent controlled the ball and turned on the proverbial sixpence to slot home from 6 yards.
U's now face Godalming who won in sudden death penalties against South Park after the game finished 0-0 after extra time.
