Don't know how many people noticed this, but Maidstone's home game on Tuesday was first delayed, and then Postponed after 8PM. It appears that a number of Maidstone's players (about 6?) were stuck North of the Dartford crossing for some hours due to major traffic congestion. The penalty for not fulfilling a fixture can be quite severe at this level - hopefully it'll just be a fine.

Ironically, they were only a stone's throw away...

You'd like to think the league would be understanding in that situation, but I guess from Macclesfield's point of view, they had managed to get there, and they were coming from 250+ miles away. They'll obviously have to pay Macclesfield's travel/accommodation expenses, but I don't think it should really go any further than that.

I was extremely lucky to have missed this on Tuesday, but it would have different if I hadn't left Chelmsford at around 10 past 3 to ensure I got to the Sutton area around 4.30 !! Personally I don't think that leaving at the time some of the Maidstone players left their homes, it would "normally" only take 25 or so minutes from the Dartford Tunnel to get to The Gallagher Stadium.

How embarrassing is that? Macclesfield are at the ground, but the Essex boys are stuck on the M25. Q: What is the difference between an Essex boy and a supermarket trolley? A: You can wheel a supermarket trolley over the QE bridge even in a traffic jam.
