Not quite!
Appendix B Rule 3 National League Play-off Season 2017-18 In the Qualifying Round, the two club's who finish 4th and 5th respectively will play at home against clubs finishing 7th and 6th respectively ... so currently
Aldershot Town v Wrexham Boreham Wood v Dover Athletic
In the semi-finals, the two clubs who finish 2nd and 3rd respectively will play at home. The club finishing the season in 2nd will play at home to the winner of the tie between clubs finishing 5th and 6th and the club finishing the season in 3rd will play against the winner of the tie between the club's finishing 4th and 7th ... so currently
Sutton United v Boreham Wood / Dover Athletic Tranmere Rovers v Aldershot Town / Wrexham

4] Play-offs Edit Qualifying round Semi-final Final 2 4 7 3 5 6 So to finish what I copied and pasted from the NL website - Andy is correct. It’s 2 v winners of 4th v 7th. It’s 3 v winners of 5th v 6th.

Robbie can you post a link to the appendix you quote? When I saw it first reported in the press the new play-off arrangements were as you say above. However Andy K and Sol are right: the official NL website diagram says 2 v 4/7 and 3 v 5/6. So two official documents contradict each other.

Won't affect us anyway, as we'll be promoted as champions...👍

So if you finish 2nd or 3rd it's just 1 home game to get to the final? Or is it 2 legs?

One game. The play-offs are designed to reward teams for finishing higher up the final table.

There's something a bit odd with the fixtures given in that link. Why would the team finishing 2nd play on the Saturday and the team finishing 3rd play on the Sunday?? Didn’t somebody quote a link about a week or two ago (presumably from a Vanarama site) that stated 3rd v 5th or 6th on the Saturday and 2nd v 4th or 7th on the Sunday?

Copy of the League Rules as available on The National League website under Information | League Rules (scroll to Page 30 of the PDF for Appendix B) - double checked that Appendix B on the website matched identical to the league rules as per the printed Handbook distributed to clubs at start of season www.thenationalleague.org.uk/articles/league-rules-1013

A totally bizarre system that could possibly see 2nd spot play a higher finishing team than 3rd, some advantage. Why isn’t the next round of the playoffs seeded with 2nd taking the lowest side left and 3rd highest?

Although obviously nothing certain in play off football you’d ‘expect’ 4th to look after 7th at home . . .

Just so as posters know, it hasn't.
