As you may have seen from the club's tweet and also the news article that has appeared on the website earlier today that Sutton United has been chosen as one of the starting point of four separate routes from the outskirts around London for a March to Wembley Stadium on Sunday 22nd July 2018 in aid of Prostate Cancer UK. I was already signed up at the beginning of last week as one of the club ambassadors to represent Sutton United FC on this walk that is 26 miles long going from our ground via Kingsmeadow (AFC Wimbledon/Chelsea Ladies) and Griffin Park (Brentford) eventually ending up at Wembley Stadium where all four routes will converge on Wembley Way. I had a work colleague that suffered with Prostate Cancer and sadly passed away in 2014 - some of his family are also doing the March to the Arch from St Albans. Prostate Cancer has now overtaken Breast Cancer as the third biggest cancer killer and one man dies every 45 minutes from Prostate Cancer - that is 2 men for each game of football played and 92 men in the time it takes our club to complete a full National League season. Prostate Cancer UK hope to half the amount of deaths from the disease by 2026 with help and support through donations and sponsorships at events such as the March to the Arch. Thanks to those that saw my Facebook post last Friday evening and came and saw me during the match against Solihull Moors last Saturday and also for those that have already given generously. If you want to sponsor me my Just Giving page is at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/sufc-robboaccountsYou can also donate a one off gift to Prostate Cancer UK via SMS, by texting 'Prostate' and the amount to 70004. You can donate £3, £5 or £10. Please state the amount as 'Prostate £5', for example. Or why not just follow-me and also sign up for the Stroll from Sutton on the March to the Arch www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-football-march-for-men-2018-tickets-40138902538?_eboga=843199354.1520635202&_ga=2.119995403.2058088263.1520985887-843199354.1520635202 - the more the merrier!!

Both Dave Farebrother and I have also signed up for this and I wondered if anyone else was taking part. As Robert says above one man dies every 45 minutes from prostate cancer, so 2 died while we were watching the friendly against Coventry and another 2 while we were enjoying England's win over Sweden. Prostate Cancer UK needs as much funding as possible for research and to support those diagnosed with this disease. Roberts' JustGiving page is above and mine is www.justgiving.com/Stephen-Millington3. I'm sure Dave and anyone else taking part will add theirs. Frankly, I'm not concerned who you sponsor or whether you donate directly (see Rob's message for donating by SMS) but please dig deep and support this worthy cause. And if you want to take part, it's not too late to sign up. Thanks, Steve

As Steve said, a nice little stroll and hopefully the weather will cool down a bit, and it does't matter who you might choose to sponsor - the point is simply to raise as much as we can. This is the link to my sponsorship page

Just a quick message to say THANK YOU on behalf of all the Sutton United FC walking participants that pounded the 26.2 miles of South West and West London (and we think it was a bit more in the end!) to Wembley on Sunday for all of your sponsorships and your messages of support on Sunday which kept all of us going. Shout out also to our fan Tim Vine who started the walk from Sutton and also did a live radio interview on the Weekend Sports Breakfast on Talksport at 7:20am promoting the walk Anybody that has not done so already but still wants to make a donation - the sponsorship pages that I could identify are as follows - it does not matter who you sponsor, we are just trying to raise as much as possible: Mine - www.justgiving.com/fundraising/sufc-robboaccountsDaveF - uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-display/showROFundraiserPage?userUrl=davidfarebrother&pageUrl=1Steve Millington - www.justgiving.com/fundraising/stephen-millington3Kirsty & Lee Walker - www.justgiving.com/fundraising/kirstyandleewalker(Apologies to Mark Hamill; Ian (sorry did not get your surname), Mrs Peter Fear & her friend and unknown supporter in Sutton United Centenary Quarters Shirt for not finding your page plus any other Sutton United FC fans that were not identified) Latest update from Prostate Cancer UK this evening is that from the 400 walkers that participated over the four routes on Sunday, the initial £125k raised by the time that Sir Geoff Hurst and Ray Clemence had given out all of the medals to the walkers on Sunday at Wembley, has now risen to a total now standing at a staggering £175k which is very close to the £200k that Prostate Cancer UK wanted to achieve from the walk Anybody that wishes to make a donation in person by cash rather than doing it online via Just Giving or Virgin Money Giving, see me on Saturday and I will ensure your donation is passed on to Prostate Cancer UK

Mr "Unknown" is Mr Cole I think. Great talking to all the Sutton fans along the way. Let's hope this is how the season starts and ends ! (and I don't mean walking !!)

I haven't done any sponsoring, but have made a separate donation direct to Prostate Cancer UK.
Two friends of mine were diagnosed with the disease within the last few years. Both thankfully are still with us after treatment.

Not sure how I feel about being the unnamed supporter... anyway, great walk and good to have met you all - well done all. The shirt did get some comments (all positive) - from a distance it was confused with a Liverpool Away kit of a few years back by one small group of Millwall fans but must have had about 30-40 people stop me and comment how great a shirt it was (though most were in various stages of delirium having walked for nearly 12hrs in temperatures that wouldn't have been out of place in the South of France). Anyway updated avatar to include "the" shirt - been following Sutton for nearly 50 years and this is the only one I've owned - must be special!!
