The speakers were regularly tested in the past, but on an empty stadium for obvious reasons. Were I normally stand, before the game and part way through selling programmes at the GGL end we cannot here clearly what’s being said. There is no speaker in the area, which may be because of the location near the houses in GGL. I feel there should be one in that area I case of emergencies. I was situated at the Collingwood Road programme box last Saturday, and there the announcements were perfect.
Just out of interest, sitting in the bottom part of the Pavilion at the Oval watching Surrey, the PA is not very good either. I’m sure that Billy would confirm this.

Could these announcements not be sent to scoreboard for display as well?

I have noticed that when I stand opposite the main stand that the speakers are loud but when I walk round to the tea hut the sound is awful.
Surely it just needs a new speaker pointing that way.

The fact that a thread about the PA system has run on to a second page, at one of the most exciting times in Sutton United's entire history, is so deliciously tinpot that I wonder if some of our fans are living in a parallel universe. 🙃

But it is a parallel universe in which the sounds from yours can be heard, but are garbled. I had the temerity to raise this topic last season, and observe that the music lyrics - even 'Back on the Shoe-box Terrace again' were audible but the PA announcer was fuzzy. Boy did I get some flak - I was nearly stuffed into another giraffe's costume and sent out on the pitch. Tony Dolbear is heard in SM1 with the reverence formerly accorded to Peter O'Sullevan or John Snagge and to suggest his enunciation is a tad too rapid is a guillotine offence, I discovered. Sorry. It must be water in the loudspeakers, or your ears.

Yes, apologies, but on Saturday the sound emanating from our PA system sounded rather like this, as observed by a number of patrons in attendance...

It must be water in the loudspeakers, or your ears. OK, I'll stand with you. Tony D does great things for the club but, yes, when he reads out the half time scores (and then only, I should add) he is a bit too rapid with them. Think he's trying to cover too many leagues in the time available to him, imo. Do I have to go watch Kingstonian, now?

Do I have to go watch Kingstonian, now? Not necessarily. Can you balance a very tall hat on your head and wave a flag at the same time?
