I went to both games when I was a wee nipper. I remember the Aldershot game vaguely. I think someone could correct me and I know Sutton won 3-0, but a player called Francis Someone (or even Someone Francis) had a hat-full of chances. Then against Middlesbrough, (I'm sure it was him) made a diabolical tackle on one player which gave Sutton a free kick that led to the equaliser. I may be totally wrong though;)

Also, given the games played, I'd put this cup run higher than the next season when Sutton beat Coventry.

That player was Francis Awaritefe. He came on in the 2nd half for Paul McKinnon and just before we scored, caught Boro keeper Stephen Pears with a late challenge (earning himself a booking). He himself was fouled moments later and our current Asst Manger no less chipped the free kick into the box and the ball was nodded in by Mark Golley....Hurrah!

One of the best players to ever wear a Sutton shirt. He ended up emigrating to Australia and plying his trade in Melbourne (I think).

I think he was "let go" by Barrie at the end of that season due to a poor disciplinary record (sent off 3 times I think that season) although I'm sure Mr Frake will confirm/correct that. He was a class player in one of the best Sutton sides I've seen. twitter.com/FrancisAwartefe

Something you hope would never happen now.

He decked Andy Pape the Enfield goalie when we lost to them in the GMAC Cup, think it was February/March time.
