I don't think the issue is with how good Charlie is, he's only 27 and a class act. The issue would be with if he's still willing to commute and we can afford him

While you wonder the fate of Cloughie, do you remember this from WISHY :

Clough has been available for a free transfer since early May. Not sure why we are waiting to sign him or the delay in doing so now. I'd love to see him back but he may not be top of the Dos wish list if you pardon the pun...

Was it he who scored a screamer against Kidderminster in the Cup a few years back? I may be wrong but weren't they in the league then and Sutton in the Conference South? If so, how time's have changed!

Kidderminster were towards the top of Conference at that time.

Not sure why we are waiting to sign him or the delay in doing so now. Would think he’s weighing up his (most probably numerous) options. Who knows whether we’re one of them? I’d personally be very (and pleasantly) surprised if we can attract Charlie back and I would expect him to stay in league football. Should be peaking in the next 5-6 years as a centre back.

Bolarinwa, Beautyman and Wishart. Clough next? Yup! If you add in Ross Stearn, that's five players who left Sutton for clubs with bigger budgets but have returned to us in the last six months or so. That's partly a sign of how our club has grown over the last two seasons - but perhaps it also says something about the high regard that players have for the people at SUFC.

One things for sure, its going to be a much tougher league this season than it was last. Looking at the signings other sides are making, and the general intent shown by the promoted/relegated sides joining us, I expect the quality to be significantly higher. A top 7 finish this season will be a huge achievement but it looks like we are bringing in the players to compete again at the right end of the table. Should be an exciting season!

Agreed but you never really know until the season gets going. Chesterfield are showing loads of intent but there again so did Leyton Orient & Hartlepool last season.

One things for sure, its going to be a much tougher league this season than it was last. Yep I’d go along with that - we’ll be hard pushed to replicate the heroics of last season in finishing 3rd. For starters Salford have been very busy throwing money around on new players after gaining promotion from the National North and at present are the title favourites. I also expect Ebbsfleet and Fylde to both come on strong again. It’s hard to predict how Chesterfield and Barnet will fare following their relegations from League Two. Boreham Wood, Aldershot, Bromley and Dagenham have all been weakened during this close season.
