One things for sure, its going to be a much tougher league this season than it was last. Yep I’d go along with that - we’ll be hard pushed to replicate the heroics of last season in finishing 3rd. For starters Salford have been very busy throwing money around on new players after gaining promotion from the National North and at present are the title favourites. I also expect Ebbsfleet and Fylde to both come on strong again. It’s hard to predict how Chesterfield and Barnet will fare following their relegations from League Two. Boreham Wood, Aldershot, Bromley and Dagenham have all been weakened during this close season. You can spend all the money you like on the best squad in the division....they still have to gel into a unit! At all levels of the game the best 11 individuals do not necessarily create the best team. One thing we have at GGL is a team spirit and togetherness.

Early days on those sides I’d say. I didn’t think Aldershot were all that good last season so maybe their new players will be an improvement whoever they end up being! Dagenham may depend on their financial position though I can’t help but feel they are being a bit disingenuous with their public pronouncements of poverty given they have no debt (apparently) in an attempt to drag in investment.

Looking at the signings other sides are making, and the general intent shown by the promoted/relegated sides joining us, I expect the quality to be significantly higher. A top 7 finish this season will be a huge achievement but it looks like we are bringing in the players to compete again at the right end of the table. Should be an exciting season! It was a fantastic achievement last season completely unexpected!

Just a quick note chaps. You have got two really good players in Dale and Dan. Dale was our talisman for several seasons and you have got a super right back there.Dan is very fast but better left side midfield than full back - and he really only has a left foot! If you a retaining Jamie and did get Cloughy FGR fans might be feeling that the U's have to become their second side. I of course tell FGR fans (I'm a season ticket holder) that they are my first club but having supported Sutton since I first saw Sutton play at Gander Green Lane when I was five and then played for the reserves in the 70s before moving to Gloucestershire in the 80s. Hope you have a great season and promotion comes in the not too distant future. Will follow the season with interest. Just hope you join us and we don't join you!

Funnily enough we know all about Dan though and Cloughy as we sold them to you! My thoughts were that generally Cooper played Wish out of position. We'll get the best out of him. I bet Lafayette is licking his lips! I've always been impressed with Dale and really think that's a cracking signing.

The defence now looks very solid and I would imagine the same four + keeper will play each week. However, the midfield is a lot harder to predict.
Will we play with five or four?
Who would you start with?

With the 3 signings Dos has made, its clear he has gone for more mobility at the back, with Wishy and Dale looking to provide pace for a wing back system, and Cloughie providing height in the center of defence. Any weaknesses last season were in these areas at times.
Cloughie can be pushed forward and is a threat to any defence in the air. All in all the squad is looking more balanced now than it has been for a season or two.

With our dynamic team, can you see Dos doing a Gareth Southgate and playing a 5-3-2?
Butler Bennett Clough Colins Beckwith Wishy Bailey Beautyman Taylor Bolly Wright

There are going to be some very good players on the bench! That’s assuming they all stay.
