The defence now looks very solid and I would imagine the same four + keeper will play each week. However, the midfield is a lot harder to predict. Will we play with five or four? Who would you start with? I think that totally depends on the opposition, don't you think? It shouldn't really. That's like saying we're reacting to the way other teams play. Shouldn't we be making other teams worry about us?

Why do you think it has to be one or the other? You play to your strengths, but you should have more than one tool in your kit. If, for instance, you're playing a side that likes to play a very wide game, you can adjust your formation accordingly whilst continuing to play to your strengths. Surely it is not hard to see that other teams will worry about us more if they know we have the tools in our kit to cancel out THEIR strengths. Managers don't just go and watch other sides play for fun.

Think every manager has a strongest XI in mind at any one time.

If we play both TB and DW we are likely to play just one up front. Not sure who I would start with up top!

Trouble is I think Tommy Wright is much more effective playing behind a target man.

No one has mentioned Kenny Davis in midfield, he was excellent last season apart from one dodgy game.
As for one up front, why not? If you play a fluid system with movement and pace you can get your midfielders forward, when Arsenal were at their best they just had Henry up top, but you wouldn't have known it.
The wing back system puts a lot of pressure on teams who just sit back and defend. It maybe against some sides Dos won't play it and go for a traditional back 4 instead, the point being is this set of players gives a lot of options. Bailey can drop back into the RB position, and Davis/Eastmmond can then anchor the middle, then you can go to a 4-4-2 etc

We are all managers in a sense. I could pick a team but with so many different permutations I think I'll just leave it up to the expert in charge!

If dos has any intention of 3 at the back he will get another cb in. Beckwith will be back up to Collins and clough. Thats unless we can get another season out of downer. It could work but I doubt it'll be his preferred system. I think we'll go with similar systems to last season, sometimes out and out wingers sometimes wing backs but always 2 c backs. Really excited about the potential prospect of aswad and wishy as a dynamic left side, could terrorise oppo right backs if they gel. Same on the right with bola and our new rb.

He's hardly ever played with 3 centre backs -4 maybe but hardly ever 3.

I wonder if we’re still after another attacking player - one player who would have fitted in down here - Omar Bugiel has joined Bromley on a permanent deal.

I'd agree we look a forward light. I guess Bolarwina is an option down the middle too.

I would imagine that we'll have a number of trialists that we'll be looking at during the pre-season friendlies. In the last couple of years that has resulted in us signing Max Biamou and Josh Taylor.
