Thameslink seem to be determined to cut West Sutton off from any train connections! Wouldn’t be surprised if they cut the whole section between Wimbledon Chase and West Sutton, it’s rarely used by passengers and buses and the tube are more convienant in that area of London. if you take a bus from Sutton to Wimbledon at 8am in the morning and then the next day you take a train at the same time you will soon see why the train is a much better option !

Was referring to buses sometimes being more convienant during the day when the services are every 30 mins as you could easily get the 413 and 93 or 413 and 164 and get to Wimbledon a bit faster if the timings are right but yes I agree on that point on the whole the train could be the same time or occasionally faster but I do think that section of the line could do with more services to maybe increase passenger numbers and a lick of paint on some of the stations wouldn’t go a miss!

I think Steve isn't saying that it takes the same time by train or bus. West Sutton to Wimbledon by train is 14min. By bus it's anywhere between 40min and an hour, depending on the time of day. So actually you could end up waiting 29min for a train and still pretty much get to your destination in the same time. I do agree however that the service could be better, but I think the logistics of the track/stations is holding it back. I remember pre tram days on the Wimbledon - West Croydon line. Train every 45min and usually empty. They replace that with a tram every 5 minutes and it's pretty full on every daytime journey.
