Is it just me or my computer, but I cannot hear Tony's questions! This happens on a lot of his interviews.

Apologies for my cameo during that i/v.
The ref may have told Bairdy that they are restricted with regards to the ue of cards in friendly matches but that is absolute tosh. A clear edict was sent out around three seasons ago that ref's should treat the use of cards in friendly fixtures the same as a league match.
While common sense would hope to prevail there are some instances where a more authoritarian approach is required and that edict followed. That didn't happen last night and as a result we saw what happened.
Can't argue with Tom B's red but their no 7 in the first half and 14 in the second both should have gone each for two what were unacceptable challenges in any match.
It wasn't easy for the ref last night but he didn't help and seemed more bothered about being berated by Nicky B than a number of awful tackles that were on show.

Sorry to hear about Taylor and Ayunga's injuries, I did hear whispers about this at the Woking game but didn't want to say anything on the forum pending official confirmation. I hope they're back to full fitness soon, especially as they were both very impressive in our opening friendly against Coventry.

The whole point of issuing bookings is to prevent situations between players escalating. In making a conscious decision to let fierce challenges go unpunished, the ref lost control of the game. All referees should be mindful of the need to issue cautions to calm things down, especially in local derbies which inevitably carry a little extra "spice", friendlies or no. A serious error of judgement from the ref last night.
