We find ourselves on the road again this weekend as we travel up to South Birmingham to face Solihull Moors who themselves have had a bright start to the season (though they came unstuck at Fylde on Tuesday).
Another tricky looking game this one as I think Solihull managed to keep the majority of last season’s squad (who performed heroics to stay up) together over the summer. I recall we won 2-0 in the corresponding game last season.
A first visit to Damson Park for me - hoping we can continue our unbeaten start!

They’ve got a good clubhouse, like the TARDIS. The further you go in, the bigger it gets.

One of the easiest journeys for me.One of very few that I drive to instead of using the train.

Train travellers probably already know that Euston station is closed this weekend and that to go between London and Birmingham you need to use Marylebone.
Trains to Solihull go from Marylebone anyway, but some of us like to travel via Brum.
I've just discovered that the Bakerloo line is suspended tomorrow, so it's not possible to get to Marylebone by tube. Best alternative may be Jubilee line (from London Bridge, Waterloo or Green Park) to Baker Street, from where it's only a short walk to Marylebone.

2-2. We'd led twice, so a draw felt a bit like a defeat, but an away point against another top six side isn't a bad outcome. We started with the same line-up as on Tuesday, and had the better of the first half, Ross putting us ahead from a Josh Taylor cross (and later losing a tooth ). The game turned in the second half after a Solihull free kick crashed back off the bar; that was cleared but another home fk two minutes later was nodded back and headed in by Danny Wright. Another Wright, Tommy, came on as sub and quickly put us ahead again with a teerific goal on the break. But that was rather against the run of play, and it was no great surprise when Solihull equalised a second time. We're still unbeaten, and now 4th in the table. Up next are Fylde, who put four past Dover today.

Overall a fair result. We seemed to tire in the second half after that tough encounter with Ebbsfleet mid week. We just resorted to long punts upfield in that period and Solihull put us under a lot of pressure. We have a free week to recover now but a hard match again to look forward to next Saturday at home to Fylde.

A difficult afternoon at Solihull, arguably the most improved side in the NL over the last year. Their second half showing was impressive in its effort, although the guy on their forum who described their football as in incisive may have wish to use the word direct. It was no nonsense stuff. Get down the flanks and cross the ball. Simplistic but effective and U's were under the cosh particularly in the last 15 or so.
A point, therefore, was gleefully taken especially as it backed up the three at Ebbsfleet. The first half was a more even affair with Solihull breaking well to set up three opportunities but all their efforts from the edge of the box failed to trouble Jamie B.
U's took the lead through Ross L's wonderful effort on the turn after a cross had struck the raised arm of a defender. Not convinced the ref would have given the penalty but then as he gave us very little all afternoon that would have been no surprise.
Moors came out for the battle in the second half. Carter struck the bar with a superb free-kick one of numerous that the home side was given in a frenetic second period. Another free-kick brought the first leveller. The giant, Daly, got free at the far psot to head back for Wright to convert with his head.
U's second came against the run of play and was an effective example of route one. Long clearance superbly headed on by Ross L and Tommy W was away to fire a hard, low shot under Boot. The 'keeper will be disappointed but Tommy will be pleased with how well he struck his effort.
The lead lasted six minutes though as U's failed to deal properly with another high ball and Storer swept home with a good finish.
Moors should have finished with ten men, Williams late caution should have been his second after his high boot left Ross L in agony during a first half tussle. We now know Ross last half a tooth because of that. Having seen it as a foul (it was) no idea why the ref decided a cursory chat was enough but then he seemed to have forgotten their were two teams on the pitch and that being at home doesn't (or at least shouldn't) allow for preferential treatment. The same guy on their forum reckon U's players went down too easy. I'd ask him what he would do if he got kicked in the mouth?
A solid point from a robust encounter. Cloughie made the nlp team of the day but I thought Kenny D had a fine match while Ross L deserves mention too for a goal, an assist and getting beaten up by their uncompromising defence.
On to in form Fylde and the machine that is Danny Rowe. I think this will be our stiffest test yet even if it is on the 3G.

Well summed up by Frakey but I should add that Craig Eastmond had a wonderful chance to make it 3-2 when clean through but shot too close to the keeper

I got to say I thought the challenge on Ross, should have been a red card, yellow would have been lenient IMO?
Dangerous and Reckless, intentional or not?
