Well I can't agree with the penalty... "If the ball hits the arm then the referee must decide whether this action was to deliberately block the ball or whether the player has raised their arms to protect themselves - especially if the ball is hit at speed." Well he clearly crosses his arms in front of his face, the ball is struck from point blank range and at speed.

I'm afraid I don't buy that. Brown is side on to the player striking the ball. His arms are clearly positioned so as to block the trajectory of the ball towards the goal. If he was facing the striker then fair point, but no.

To me, if you take his arms away then the ball hits him to the right of his chest, just below the shoulder ( and probably bounces harmlessly away)

As I said in my original match report, the problem is the unnatural position of the arms - that crossed arms shape is highly unnatural - it takes up a surface area far wider than the player's face, with hands and elbows protruding out well beyond the head area, and to me, looks like an attempt to block the ball. I strongly suspect that players are not coached to adopt such a stance in the penalty area, put it that way...

Its a penalty I'm afraid and also I thought Dover's Red Card was a bit harsh....
