Interesting and a good interview after listening to the whole thing. Always like listening to the gaffer after. Noticed he mentioned finances again and especially the bit about lafayette I found interesting saying it was a financial decision as we wasn't in any position at all to really let him go.
Get the impression things are quite tight at Sutton financially and that Wealdstone game was a big win.
Crying out for a striker and the fact we aren't bringing one in suggests to me that their is no money in the pot.

I think you are spot on there .Money has to be found to upgrade the perimeter fence before the end of the year and the Wealdstone cash will help considerably. The floodlights also need some money spent on them as there are some dark patches in places. However,if we are fortunate to get past Slough in a replay 36k will come our way with the chance of a big money spinner in round 2

Not aware of how much Lafayette was costing the club but we might have been better off loaning or releasing midfield players. We have two, maybe three that only seem to warm the bench and obviously are not in the managers plans. Don't forget we will also be paying the wages of Ross Worner who came back from a season loan and Tommy Wright.

I think if Drinan came in and was banging them in for fun we wouldn't be having this conversation but as he is taking a little time to warm up it is really stares us in the face regarding which position we are struggling atm.

I assume e Lafayette wanted to go due to $$ as it would otherwise have made sense to let one of our midfielders or worner leave on loan. Although Lafayette could have been one of the best paid players who knows

As Drinnan is on loan how much of his wages are we paying? Presumably nothing if we are keeping him in place of Ross Lafayette.
If we are paying a part of his wages I'm sure that they could be better spent.

How do you propose we do that then, go and make a visit to the proven National League goalscorer tree that are as cheap as a 20 year old loanee. He's really young and playing his first full season as a senior in England, keep slating him on a forum isn't going to help the lad's confidence. Also anyone else noticed how much of a better player Lafayette has become since he has left? He was hardly prolific or playing well and now he has gone everyone is calling him the saviour. There is a reason he was always left on the bench

I am not sure any striker in the world would score from the crosses made into the box yesterday. Some things we could do for nothing, bring Dundo back from Hampton, he is a poacher and holds the ball up well? Another thing I would like to see is another center mid to play alongside Eastie, why not bring Josh Taylor in, we have not seen enough of him. We can talk about strikers all day long, but we are not holding the ball in midfield, and we are being forced into long diagonals, and this is not our style.

Also anyone else noticed how much of a better player Lafayette has become since he has left? He was hardly prolific or playing well and now he has gone everyone is calling him the saviour. There is a reason he was always left on the bench I for one was always happy to see RL on the team sheet as he always worked hard, did the dirty work and took a beating for the team. Yes he missed some sitters and yes he was hardly anything special but he fulfilled an important role. Hardly fair to say always on the bench. He started almost every game in the first half of last season and burnt himself out, and was a regular starter and scorer this season til the boreham wood debacle. Maybe dos had just seen enough after 'that' miss against BW but there's absolutely no doubt we're a weaker unit without him as an option. You knew what you would get - 8 or so goals a season and real physical commitment. Absolutely agreed there is no magic supply of good strikers, maybe dundo can come in and do a job for us while the hunt goes on? Obviously he wasn't eligible for the cup so maybe after the replay. Clough is at best a short term solution as DB is no way capable of playing the amount of games that this squad is being asked to play this season, more than a few weeks of 2 games a week and he will undoubtedly be out injured.
