Apologies to anyone who doesn't want to tempt fate by contemplating this. The only reason I've started a specific thread is because I've got a foot in both camps. Sutton are my 2nd side and I've been to plenty of games over the years because I have family in the area but first and foremost I'm a Gillingham fan. I have to say, and this would be the general consensus among blues, confidence for a tie at GGL would be at rock bottom at the moment.
That said, this is a tie that me and my cousins have been discussing the possibility of for, oh, about 30 years. I've seen us embarrassed and dumped out of the cup by Welling, Burscough, Dover and Brackley (twice in 3 years). At least this one would have a silver lining in that one of our clubs, if we win our replays, will make the 3rd round and a potential jackpot draw.

I'm hoping that if we are good enough to go through on the night that we end up playing Gillingham but they have a horrendous replay at Hartlepool which will be tough to say the least.

Oh you're not wrong and I'm certainly not taking the Hartlepool game for granted, not by any means. I've been there and watched the wind make the seagulls fly backwards during 2-0 defeats! I won't be going to that one - I tend to travel these days (Gills, Sutton or otherwise) if it's a new ground and for no other reason (was at Barrow for the 2-1 defeat last month for that very reason). If I were to give a prediction, I'd say we'll just scrape through by the skin of our teeth. Sutton on the other hand, i think will beat Slough by a couple of goals. In fact I'd be at Slough (new ground!) on any other night but fate has dealt me a miserable hand and I'm in Cheltenham with work for a couple of days, so the only game I could see next midweek is the Cheltenham v Ebbsfleet replay, which holds next to no appeal!

Should Sutton overcome Slough next week (and I'm making no predictions about that!) then I'm sure that most of our fans would rather we play the Gills than the Pools in the 2nd round, if only because Hartlepool are now in the same division as us and we went up there only last month. Should the Cup tie end as a draw at GGL then a midweek replay in Kent would be much easier for us than one in County Durham!
Sutton did famously beat Gillingham 9-3 in the 4th qualifying round of the Cup back in 1945; I'm not aware that our paths have crossed since.

I'm Sutton born, bred and proud of it (and who's first U's game was an FA cup tie vs Barnet in 1967) but all my wife's family are Gills fans and I was Finance Director there for a while in their heyday in the early 2000s. Cut me and I bleed chocolate & amber blood.....just hope Slough & Hartlepool don't spoil a family argument-in-waiting..

I bet working with Scally was......*cough*.......interesting?! Don't worry, that's a rhetorical question!

Yep and yep, in that order! I remember it well from a supporters perspective. ITV Digital were to blame for global warming, the illegal invasion of Iraq and those packets of bacon that are almost impossible to open!!

ITV Digital. Almost as terrible as Setanta Sports.
Almost.

ITV Digital. Almost as terrible as Setanta Sports. Almost. Ever watched Premier Sports? They're the low budget version of Setanta, just pray they never get anywhere near as ambitious and stick to Swedish speedway and other fringe activities

I have randomly spotted that flicking through channels. Not entirely sure what it was or what it is for.
Still not with the Amazon thing. I have to plug a USB stick in my TV? Either that or take out another contract coupled with BT, Sky and then Amazon doesn't work financially.
And no, I'm not a sofa football fan even though I may sound like one. I go to Sutton games as much as I can.
I just like watching football. Contradiction at it's best.

Nothing wrong with enjoying football on TV as well as live. I've got Sky (although the EPL leaves me cold and the rest of their coverage seems to be ever diminishing, so not sure how much longer they'll be getting my money) and BT.
I'm afraid I can't help you re the Amazon question, I'm not very tech-minded. Some sort of Firestick, whatever that is, that, from what people say, sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. So a cheaper but more unreliable option. I could be completely wrong about that, though

Sutton's match was no time for a novice so should have recalled Dundas early from his loan.

Sutton's match was no time for a novice so should have recalled Dundas early from his loan. The only trouble is, Dundo would have been cup-tied.
