Clough played up front throughout, but I can't recall him having a clear-cut chance to score.
Jonah did have one great chance on the break to make it 2-0 to us, but, with just the keeper to beat, he shot wide.
EDIT: I'd forgotten, but Cloughie did have one shot off the bar.

Happens but the warning signs are staring us right in the boat race.
Cloughie was superb won every flick unfortunately and surprisingly nobody anticipated them, same issue with no one being able to run in behind onto through balls the other issue being we can't pick through balls.
We started so well Taylor done brilliant for the goal but then after 20 minutes had gone and we didn't get a second goal the inevitable was going to happen the longer the game went on.They took control in the last 20 and could have won it.
Constantly giving the ball away very poor quality and missed Bailey who I thought was being rested for this big game again we are incredibly unlucky with freak injuries as I presume he must of picked something up in training.
Striker wise Ayunga had a poor game I do feel as though he maybe more of a winger and defenders might just be working out his cutting inside trick. Drinan not the answer unfortunately for our problem at present.
Body language looked wrong tonight plenty of arguing amongst themselves especially aimed at Ayunga.
Need to move on someone free some cash up and try and find a goal scorer out there no easy task by all means.
Also could have been more width at times to and trying to stretch and isolate them a bit more.
Weather was horrendous just got the feeling back into my toes and very please to see my bed after being on the move since 4:30 this morning. Will have to apologise to JC for not finding my best vocal cards today and supporting the team still work in a few hours.
Come on the Sutton boys.

If you play Clough up front, A- we lose this season's best defender. B-its obvious how we're gonna play, knock downs and flick ons, he's a heading machine, and C- doesn't say much about Arrons ability or the confidence in him if he's missing out to a CB in the striker position. Not a good night

Yep I think the word 'Striker' may come up a few more times in this thread. Can't fault the effort of either set of players over 120mins they all gave everything, penalties are a lottery and in truth Slough gave as good if not better at timers than they got. As for us, just 3 goals in 8hrs speaks volumes, that is 1 every 160mins. Just to put our fantastic defence into context, they have conceded just 2 in that 8hrs. I did post this on the Gateshead interview thread but I am certain Dos said that we would be addressing the striker issue this week. By that I am anticipating a new player coming in. Possibly also planning to relinquish a midfielder.

Delboy “the jinx” at it again 🙄.
A galling defeat last night and bang goes Dos’ “never lost an FA Cup replay with Sutton” too. I felt we started brightly and got that good early goal - another one and it would have probably put the tie to bed but it didn’t come - Ayunga spurning that big opportunity in the second half.
Didn’t think we played badly last night - Collins and Brown our two best performers in my opinion, maybe missed Bailey last night (he would have been one of the other penalty takers in the shoot-out).
Still lots to play for this season!

Defence performing superbly, shame we can't do the business at the other end. The boys gave it their all last night to a man but we were let down by poor finishing. 3 golden chances to kill the game off while on top in the first 25 of the 2nd half, always felt like it was going to cost us. 2-0 would have been game over. Without Taylor on the pitch we don't seem to have anyone who looks likely to unlock defences. He was borderline unplayable first 30,no surprise he flagged after an energetic 90 on Saturday. Jonah needs confidence of a few goals and will come good. Said it all when he opted to pass when he weaved in from the left, any striker with a few goals under their belt would have rightly gone for goal. But Brown's was the stand out chance for me, goal at his mercy on his left foot and his shot was easily saved. Jonah's other chance was harder than it looked. First ten pens were class. Can't ask much more than scoring regulation five, thought Worner would save a few but didn't get close except the 9th. On to maidenhead, the team in the worst form outside of park football with 0-19 in the last 4. Had we won last night you'd feel we could have gone on to win comfortably but a scrappy 1-0 would suffice now. I think the most depressing thing about our exit is that dos will probably have to let someone go to bring in a striker now. Had we won he would have maybe had funds to keep everyone. Hope slough make it to round 3,they matched us over 210 mins although our poor finishing was all that kept them in it at times last night.

Disappointment is how I'm feeling today. I thought we had enough to do the job last night, but we didn't. And we will feel an impact on Saturday with these players playing 120 mins on a wet Tuesday night (Harry looked exhausted even before the end of normal time for example) with nothing to show.
We can talk about the ref and his decisions (and especially the one which led to the freekick for their goal, which was very harsh I felt) but look at the positives. I thought Wayne Brown was terrific last night, and Aswad was putting in a performance we're starting to except from him - efficient and classy. Infact most of the back 4 look very strong indeed.
No point in lingering what we need to do now, we all know and the management know, I expect better than us. We couldn't have had a better game to lick our wounds against a side who are in freefall at home. Let's just make sure we do on Saturday, and we can forget about the FA Cup for another 11 months.

First paragraph to a tee so dissapointing to use those energy levels in them conditions and come out losers. The need to put it right Saturday is immense I dare say a little pressure on us to in getting the 3 points.

Yes its all my fault ! More like the constant moaning from some Sutton 'fans', one fan did not stop throughout the game. I took to the stand in second half of extra time a guy just behind me was moaning about everything and anything would rather see fans save the moaning for social media and support the boys when they are out there but then everyone's different.

Good point - although I'd rather see people on social media get behind the club and give credit where credit is due too, rather than the idiots who spend their time blaming Drinan for everything or just moaning about everything they can find to moan about. We lost a cup game because over the course of 210 minutes we couldn't put a team a division below us to the sword. It's not as if we've not done that to other clubs higher than us before and we know that our management team always learn from this. Steve McKimm posted about it perfectly on Twitter last night: "When you’ve improved and been successful on and off the pitch people always want more. What has been achieved should be embraced and a realism kick in that it’s not always going to go your way. The club has been bought a long way in a short space of time." He's not wrong.

To be honest Andy I joined the bandwagon last year I realise we do very well for the finances we have that's becoming very clear now. The national league is becoming more wealthier and more and more clubs are entering this league well established in years gone by from the football league. Not to mention Solihull who have had the privilege to take most of Birminghams up and rising talents on loan. We may drop off a bit that's only natural as a result of all the above however it means more than ever that heads need to come together to think of a way that we can maintain ourselves in this league and anywhere in the top 12 should be the aim as I'm sure it is. I think with Sutton as long as we see progression and that's open to interpretation people will be happy, that doesn't mean to get in the play offs every year either because as we are seeing that feat is becoming harder and harder. I didn't like the critiscing of Drinan behind me or everyother single player they are all trying their best as they always do. However there is also nothing wrong with saying that we should of shut games out this season after having guilt edge chances to go 2 or 3 up. The mentality of we are in a great league and we are doing well to just participate is fine but the people behind the scenes can't have this mentality as we all know to stay the same in essence means you will slowly move backwards. Not an easy job that the top bods have at the club that's for sure . I think when confidence comes back and a striker comes through the door that things will seem a lot more positive again we are not a bad side at all.

Well whichever fans were moaning got through to the players as Jamie Collins let it be known he was not happy at the time.
I think the expectation is you should always put a team below you a division,to the sword. For the first 30 minutes or so we were so much better than them and it seemed like a second goal was inevitable. Didn't happen and we lost our shape and invited Slough on to us . So many clearances picked up by Slough players very similar to the home match against Dover.

I agree with the social media thing too. While I'd rather not see too many negative comments about the side online - other than constructive ones, which we're not talking about in this thread - I'd much rather see it there than hear it on the terraces. It is incredibly frustrating when your side doesn't come up to your expectations after all, and people deal with those feelings in different ways meaning some will really feel a need for some sort of outlet for their frustrations.
Having said that, it's up to all of us how we choose to support our team. We've paid to watch the game and you can't prescribe how people ought to do that (at least, not within the bounds of the law and ground regulations). It would be nice if our players didn't have to hear discouraging and negative opinions thrown at them, but we can't exactly stop people doing it. We could always try drowning them out with a bit of more supportive noise!
