I think it was someone like 37 starts and 35 sub appearances at his time with the Fleet sol! Needless to say their fans on Twitter are all pretty disappointed that he's off, which is only a good sign I reckon!

Sounds an exciting prospect. Young, England "C" caps, but as others have said unproven (yet) at this level with few games played.
Looking forward to seeing how this plays out, and it gives competition to the other youngsters we have on the books in similar playing positions too which will be to their benefit at this stage of what they hope to be long and successful careers in the game.
Not sure I like the sound of "undisclosed fee" given the supposed financial constraints we are operating within, but it was always unlikely we would be able to "discover" someone that was good, available and "free" I suppose.
We have had many years to judge both the football management, and the club management teams, and they haven't let us down, so no reason to believe this won't have been a well thought out investment.
I love the way this club can eradicate the disappointment on Tuesday with an announcement that gets us all looking forward to Saturday!

How odd, I can't see it on my phone or even on the laptop from which I posted the article. I think I shall go and lie down...

They may even both start tomorrow, given how much Tuesday evening's adverse conditions would have taken out of the squad.
Very encouraging news indeed!

He is rapid, must be the quickest in this league. He, as you are aware, was out for most of last season, he was highly rated by most at the Fleet. He is back to full fitness, and is raring to go, it's a shame it's not with us........ I'd be really surprised if this doesn't work out for him,and you, my only issue might be the plastic pitch, as it was quite a serious knee injury he had, time will tell I guess.

I wouldn't worry about the pitch. We have had it quite a few seasons now and can't recall any serious injury occurring on it.That may have been the case with old style pitches but technology has moved on.

I was only thinking about his knee pounding away on that solid surface. I'm not up to date on these pitches so I assume there is plenty of give in them, rather than being fairly solid. I just remember some players saying it was hard to stop when running at pace.

We have players here who had all but given up their careers due to injury but who now have a new lease of life due to every second game being played on an axminster carpet... Visiting supporters (and of course visiting managers!) love to complain about our pitch but rarely do visiting footballers.

Ah and inadvertently we talk about the 3G surface. Nothing wrong with it. If a World Cup Qualifier, a Champions League Final (in 2008 it has to be said), an FA Cup Fifth Round tie against one of the biggest teams in English football and an entire Women's World Cup can be played on one then surely there is no issue. I'd prefer playing on 3G than the bog that is Newport sharing with a rugby team.
Anyway, he sounds like a proven player. Let's give him a big welcome.

The rubber shock pad under the pitch is quite springy Phil, I'd say more so than a grass pitch. Maybe that's why it's hard to stop running...
We've had a few bad injuries since having it but IIRC they've all happened away from home, with the worst I can think of off the top of my head being at Torquay and Leyton, both grass pitches.

I know nothing about 3G surfaces, I'm only going by what some players have said to me about them, others have said they are ok. You tell me nothing wrong with them, I guess it's all about different opinions. My opinion on them for what it's worth, they seem ok, but I've never played on one, and at my age I never will, so I can't really give an honest opinion on something that I've never tried, however, lots of people do.
