Very sad to hear of the death of Norman Milne. Quite simply the most entertaining player I ever saw in amber & chocolate. RIP.

I was surprised to read that Norman was only with us for just over a year - he obviously made a real impression on this young fan as I was sure he was with us for longer.
RIP Norman and thanks for the memories.

RIP Norman, a star early in my early Sutton watching time. Great entertainment, saw him make some great runs and score great goals.

I am so sorry to hear about Norman, the very definition of a cult footballer. We were in touch for the last 3 or 4 years and he was desperately keen to travel down to a game from his home in Scotland but his health prevented it. I agree with TonyD, he was the most entertaining player I ever saw in a Sutton shirt.
As well as that stunning hat-trick, I remember him playing in our annual 6-a-side tournament. I will always swear that Norman beat all five opponents, went round the goalkeeper and then turned round, taking the ball all the way back to his own goal-line before starting afresh; beating every opponent again before finally scoring.
Rest In Peace, Norman.

Rest In Peace, Norman. I'm sure he did the same thing in a full game against Tooting & Mitcham United - Very sad to hear this news.

Very sad to hear about Norman Milne. Can only endorse the comments made by Tony D and Dave F. Quality player who was pleasure to watch and score good goals. R.I.P. Norman.

Echo the sadness at the passing of Norman Milne. Anyone at Bishops Stortford that night on 6th April 1978, will never forget that incredible goal he scored. I have never seen anything like it since (although Dundo's mesmerising effort at Concord should be mentioned).
Norman received the ball on the half way line and then proceeded to take the ball around all comers and then having arrived in the penalty area took it around another two before planting the ball in the net. An accurate description of this goal is almost impossible because I am sure he beat two of the home defenders at least twice in this solo effort. Breath taking it was.
On his day, he was fantastic. His goal on debut the previous November against Staines was a 25 yard pile driver into the top corner that came out of the blue and he also netted a treble early the following season at Woking.
As Dave F said, probably U's first "cult" hero.

I think he must've been playing in the period when I didn't watch the U's very much but I'm familiar with the name.
RIP Norman although I do remember other players before him that would go into the cult status such as Chris Kelly.
