Good win against a footballing side. 1- 0 up but not comfortable as Harrogate came at us and got a deserved equaliser. We needed an extra midfielder on and Davis was the man. We regained control of the game and Harry provided us with the winner and had to tough out the last 5-10 mins under some pressure. On to Spennymore next Saturday in the trophy and hopefully their pitch will hold up. Spennymoor have a home game on Tuesday, just to wear the pitch a bit more.Moor surely! Otherwise you’ll upset localboy86

Another narrow win, another three points, and we're up into a play-off position (6th).
A few people have questioned Sutton's game management this season but, as noted above, Dos got it spot on in this match. The introduction of McQueen and Thomas-Asante in the final fifteen minutes meant that we were suddenly attacking Harrogate with pace. A burst from McQueen down the right drew a brutal challenge from a visiting defender that might have warranted more than the yellow card shown by Mr Purkiss. Not long afterwards another attack down that flank saw Dale Bennett's cross flicked on and the ball turned in by Harry B.
It had been Harry's whipped free kick that created our opener, a deft header from Jonah. Harrogate's second-half equaliser was a belter, and they did come close to snatching another in the closing minutes, one effort being headed out from under the bar and some frantic clearances being required in stoppage time. But we held on to remain undefeated against all the other sides in the top ten.
The post-match celebrations went on rather a long time!

I'm looking forward to seeing all three goals again on the highlights package. Harrogate’s was a superb strike.
And it’s good to see that McQueen is starting to look sharp. Gives Dos a nice quandary with options up front.

Dos is damned either way making subs in a close game, but it made a nice change to see the oppo holding out(or not)

Personally was very impressed with how the team went about it yesterday. Dos was positively glowing with happiness and praise in his interview and I think he might still be there now talking if not for the seasoned pro TonyD winding things down. On this occasion we got the points, it could so easily have been a hard earned point but then so could the Bromley game. Every game seems to be utterly marginal at the moment, and with 3 points for a win its much better to win one and lose one than pick up two draws.
Back 4 and Ross W were outstanding all day. Luckily its looking like one game a week for most of the forseeable, I have no doubt Beckwith can do a job as long as not called on to play twice a week, and once again he played very well when called upon. Any doubts on young Brad Pearce's run in the team being dependent on the experience of JC next to him was put to bed and the lad had possibly his best game so far. Ross's kicking (vastly improved) and handling was superb and his only blot being electing to punch when I fancied him to collect (seeing as everything had been sticking), the resulting lob from the edge of the area had him well beaten only for Easty to save a certain goal.
Harrogate really didnt look like scoring and it took a wonder goal for them to get back into the game - from the moment it was struck most of our fans were muttering 'great goal' or somesuch. We rode the storm and hit back, matching Harrogate's central 3 and with two quick wide men stretching them we looked by far the most likely to go on and win. There was a bit of fortune about the goal as I think the flicked header was an effort on goal (if not then it was superb) and our luck held as harrogate threw everything (even their diminutive keeper) forward. I think everyone in attendance intuitively knew what a big win that was and how much the team had wanted it.
With results above us being predictably unpredictable suddenly we are not far off the pace. The team will be brimming with confidence now, and they'll need every ounce with more inevitably tight games on the horizon (Eastleigh away Ebbsfleet at home - zoinks!)

Harrogate's manager needs to take a leaf out of Dos book. His after match i/v gave U's some faint praise but blamed our goals on errors rather than Harry B's excellent delivery and then his anticipation to score the winner. If anything, he should blame the loss on his skipper who seemed to think the armband gave him the right to try and referee the match and his ridiculous handball led to the free-kick that put U's on their way. I have no idea how the ref put up with him constantly in his ear. Captain he maybe but he overstepped the mark yesterday by some distance.
This wasa fine NL fixture, helped by Harrogate's approach that was to attack with good passing and movement rather than the many who arrive here with getting a point and anything else a bonus. For my money, the best footballing side to visit KCS this season so far and after conceding a late and stupid penalty at their place (another hand ball even more ridiculous than yesterday's) they may be wondering how it was U's who took four points from the six and not them.
Not that Harrogate had it all their own way as U's started well with some fast attacking football and I thought the first half was pretty even. Jonah A's deft flick from that lovely delivery separated the sides until Thomson scored a beauty with a curling effort into the far corner. With Town enjoying a lot of the midfield on came Kenny D to give U's more numbers in the middle but it was the introduction of fresh pace in Brandon T-A and Darren M that caused Harrogate the most concern. And they were both involved in the winner.
Defensively, U's were excellent. Dean B came in and does what he always does while Brad P continues to grow. Yes, Craig E had to clear off the line twice from the same attack but U's with Ross W showing brilliant handling and bravery, saw the match out. Up front I thought Brett W was excellent. Hold up play was good and he ran himself into the ground.
The ref was poor at times giving a lot of very soft free-kicks and the fouls on Darren M must have been close to a red; cynical, reckless and not in control.
So, a fine three points and finally out of 8th and into the p-o positions. Long way to go but a healthy position considering the squad changes of late.
Chertsey next and a chance to meet up with Binnsy again.
