I believe Coventry came into the match on the back of a 5-0 win vs Sheffield Wednesday. They finished the season in 7th which I think might be their highest ever league finish. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1988%E2%80%9389_Football_LeagueI don't think any other side has come close to emulating the achievement of Sutton United that day beating a full strength side who I think were 4th at the time in the old division 1, spanning 94 places with a true team of part timers. It will never be done again. Not beating a full stregth team - no - because all the big teams take the piss in the FA Cup. But even a top 6 2nd string side will be far too strong for any part time club. Just about doable is 1st/2nd string lower premiership side by a top National side on a very good day. I don't think our performance vs Arsenal gets enough credit just 2-0 and we created chances.

Seems I was wrong on this one. A quick search shows Liverpool beating Workington in the 3rd Round 1-0 in 1952. Maybe it was a dream I had or a past life in another dimension. Think Liverpool may have lost at Worcester City when they was a div 2 club

The Saturday after Hereford beat Newcastle, ...Newcastle went to Old Trafford and beat Manchester United [/b] Coventry also won at Old Trafford not long after the Sutton game.

You're actually praising the club!

You shouldn't be stunned (I know you're not really). I personally see Billy as playing Devils Advocate on here and why not?
Most football clubs forums only see it one way and are biased (naturally) so it is healthy for someone to stir the pot a bit and form an argument from a different view point otherwise this place just becomes a sort of echo chamber.

If you give a hundred monkeys a typewriter, sooner or later one of them will type something coherent.

Mainly because he's often very rude about it. I agree completely with your second paragraph but we have plenty of differing opinions on here!

I’ve always taken his, shall we say, “controversial” posts more as naïve than rude.
