Excellent match today with both sides playing very well. Shame we couldn't hold on for a point but Eastleigh marginally better so deserved the win. My favourite fixture of the season being a Bournemouth resident and the ground's facilities continue to improve. Looking forward to going back next season already.

Those "facilities" presumably include the away turnstiles that we were directed to that were locked (same as Barrow). Having then joined the queue to the home turnstiles, amongst baffled Eastleigh fans, I was then turned away once at the front as you couldn't gain entry without a ticket. Walking the length of the last side of the ground to complete a lap it was another queue at the club shop to get a ticket, to then queue for a third time just to get in. It shouldn't be this difficult to give money to fill another club's pockets surely?

Good game yesterday but a bit of a curve-ball in their programme. No idea who they mixed up Jonah with, probably a hangover from their last home programme, but he certainly joined us from Brighton and has never played for Pompey, Colchester or Aldershot.

Yes, very good game. Terribly annoying announcer though. Did I imagine him laughing over the tannoy when Bradley got booked? Does he have any idea that there are apposing supporters in the ground who don't particularly want to hear his crowing???

Those are the career details of Nicke Kabamba who was with Havant & Waterlooville, Eastleigh's previous opponents at the Silverlake. (He's since joined Hartlepool, and scored for them yesterday in their defeat at Harrogate.) Both players were at League clubs on the south coast, so easily confused. 🙄

Eastleigh seem to have put the last piece of the jigsaw in the puzzle with regards their ground. There is plenty of seating; covering on all parts and now the pitch has finally caught up with the rest of the huge development that the previous owner has left as a fine legacy. It was the best I think I have seen it, certainly compared to the bogs of the past that has greeted U's in mid season.
That pitch allowed for a fine NL fixture that Sutton was slow to get into and as reult the home side probably just about deserved the win although, as the away side, U's could have claim to have merited a draw.
Eastleigh started well with a lot of joy down the flanks but their first goal was fortuitous in that the cross took a huge deflection, looping up before being poked home at he far post. Ross W made one remarkable save and their were a couple of other scares before U's settled and grew into the match. Eventually Gime T, who had his best match in a Sutton shirt thus far, showed pace and dogged persistence to nick a goal just before the break.
U's started the second half well having moved Aswad T to left back and Nicky B to right in a defensive reshuffle. Another fine run down the right set up Eastleigh's second although not sure how the fella squeezed the ball in at the near post. U's responded well and a fine cross from Harry B was flicked into the far corner by Brett W.
Both keepers were fully extended thereafter but a further reshuffle saw Brad P come on for Craig E and Nicky B moving into the midfield. Their winner came from a fine delivery and Williamson getting in behind to head past Ross W from close range.
Another late defeat for U's on the road. Not sure that would have happened had we not had to reshuffle late on as both sides looked set for a point.
Tempers flared as the match entered added time but the ref, who had a reasonable match, although his lack of decent signals and another useless 4th official cost Brad P a yellow card for entering the fop without permission.
A decent debut from James Dobson; has a fair throw on him too.
So, the normal defeat at Eastleigh on the back of a decent performance.
While the ground looks great EFC's organisation needs more than tinkering with. No prior match notification of no segregation and that decision could have resulted in an ugly confrontation as the locals were hostile and at their time of life, ridiculous. Goading the U's fans when the first goal went in and the stewards (absolutely useless) ignoring it and more concerned about vaping in the wrong area of the ground. The two I spoke to were a couple of complete idiots more likely to cause a problem than prevent one.

Should add that this was U's first defeat by a fellow top ten club this season.

I think it was a decent U's performance once we settled into the game, their 1st was a bit of a fluke as it was assisted by the crossbar. Good see both our goals actually coming from strikers, and one big positive I thought was Dobson, he looks an excellent player with a good throw, Free Kicks, and good passing in his locker. He will do well for us.
The Silverlate voodoo hit with the loss of Craig, after subbing Davis, left us exposed after the ruffle and introduction of Brad, whose baptism of fire continues. Probably should have done better for the goal, but a young lad learning quickly.
Hope Craig is OK, as we need him plus skips back to push on and grab a playoff spot.

Frakey sums Saturday up perfectly when he says "the usual defeat at Eastleigh on the back of a decent performance". We've never looked terrible there but the footballing gods always seem to conspire against us there. This time it was the forced reshuffle - if we didn't have to do that I think we would have done something we'd not done in 11 seasons, and come away with a point. I think we're starting to look more assured going forward. Gime had a quiet first 10 mins, but after that Eastleigh really struggled to get a grip on him, and his goal was almost comical from them. Always disappointing coming away from there with nothing when we probably deserved something.
As for the matchday experience, I didn't think it was as bad as previous seasons. The lack of segregation was a little odd (indeed I overheard a conversation between a steward and one of their fans, with the steward saying "The safety officer decided it wasn't needed, but if I had my way we would have caged them lot in the corner all day long") and the 5 or 6 Eastleigh fans who obviously don't get that fans at this level actually like to stand behind the goal they are shooting towards and obviously took offence that we stood there and used that as the basis to be horrid after their first goal went in and were more interested in trying to provoke our fans than watch the game. A good sign though was it was a minority and not the scummy youth from a couple of seasons ago.
Good to see Aswad back, and hopefully we can get the defence a little stronger for next week. It may be just me but Bailey looks knackered - his extended run in the team I think is starting to show. Oh and who ended up being captain after Eastmond went off?
I think we're up against it next week, but it would be a real sign of intent if we manage to do our first double of the season against the in form side in the division. It's a huge ask, but our players and management always seem to respond better to those huge asks...
I seem to recall we have a good record there though (not us personally but the club). Also the lack of nearby pubs is disconcerting when compared with having a hungry horse in spitting distance of the train station.
I've yet to make it to Havant, it's one of four outstanding grounds for me in this league, alongside Harrogate (was in Rhodes when we played up there), Salford and Fylde. They'll all get done next season!
