Shouting abuse at players can only make their performance worse. I feel a strong connection with this club and anyone who does things that damages it is going to upset me. So keep confronting these fools. Now, I have tried shouting abuse at opposition players especially in my younger days, that either makes them better or just makes them angry, so I gave that up, I am also not sure about abusing officials either as I doubt think that helps my cause either

Incredibly, I’m with davethegrave here! There’s a first time for everything I suppose. Shouting abuse at players can only make their performance worse. I feel a strong connection with this club and anyone who does things that damages it is going to upset me. So keep confronting these fools. So if we confront them who will the stewards side with? Why should the stewards get involved? I’m suggesting that you tell these people that their actions are damaging the team. I’m not suggesting violence.

Shouting abuse at anyone in any walk of life gets people nowhere let alone football. I just prefer soaking up the atmosphere whilst watching a game. I'm normally rather quiet with the odd 'Come on Sutton' yelp. When a goal goes in however, different story. Cue lots of jumping and cheering. When I took three friends with me against Gateshead the other week only one had been before and he'd been only once in the dull 1-0 win against Dagenham. At least he saw more goals and a better game this time. Not being Sutton fans they took great delight in abusing the Gateshead keeper, I was slightly embarrassed but a few Sutton fans did join in on it. Meh, maybe I'm just a dullard

I was quite civil but got some abusive language back verging on the aggressive.

I was quite civil but got some abusive language back verging on the aggressive. Playing devils advocate here Dave its hardly surprising that they were abusive to you, as you were trying to force your point of view on them. It's human nature.

Each to their own, constant abuse of an individual can get a bit galling but a little verbal criticism of the team is fine by me, if warranted. It can add to the atmosphere
