Yes os, you are right in that Matt will ultimately be judged on the teams results.... but...... fifth tier football is a changed beast. It is now one of live TV coverage, a dedicated press, social media and forums such as this. You cannot manage a team in the Premiership, Championship, Division One or Division Two without also buying into having to play the game with the media AND the fan base. The National League has now entered such a world. Dos was Dos and Matt is his own man, so it is difficult (if not simply unkind) to compare them, although a lack of noise coming from the dugout will only ‘put off’ some of the ‘new’ converts who bought into the Dos Circus (and that term is used positively). Having come back to the club only four seasons ago, having been a regular in the 70s and 80s, I found the Sutton United of 2015 an eye-opener. It had grown bigger and better. I genuinely felt a part of something. I was made to feel as if Dos was a mate (having only spoken to him briefly twice). If I’m being brutally honest I feel as if a lot of that feeling has been lost. It might just be me, but I bet that quite a few supporters are feeling the same. I know that results and the quality of the football should be by what Matt is solely judged by, but times have changed. It’s the all-round football experience that now counts. I say to you, stick with it, all of us from board to fan find ourselves in a position we are not used too. SUFCtv will be doing its best to help reconnect fans, and we will work on Matt So much has changed not only at our club but in the game itself since Dos swept through our club like a whirlwind. Yes, the National league is now a commercial venture, we are heading towards live streaming of all matches, live BT interviews and goals available to view within a minute of them being scored etc. I doubt Matt Gray is doing anything different from any other manager (except Dos), he hasn't been employed to be a circus leader. That aspect will probably have to come from somewhere else within the club, I am sure it will, its a case of not only learning to live without Dos but adapting and moving on. Its really a bit unfair to make a judgement now on the whole thing. I think we all need (And I think deserve) a season to get everything from media to the football on the pitch right.

To add my not half penny worth I think everyone is getting in a tizz about nothing. We are in the month of June for Christ's sake. So many clubs are selling or buying so let's give Matt Gray a chance to put his own stamp on what he wants as his own squad.
We are now entering a different era compared to Dos and who are we to criticise Matt without a ball being even kicked?

I think many of the posters on this thread who have expressed concern over the lack of communication have been careful to divorce it from the expectations of who will, and will not, be in the squad and how they will play. Yes, this is a different era from Dos, and Matt doesn’t need to try and mimic him, but as os says, in this age of being ‘media-savvy’ the club need to fill at least some of the communication void. And as manager, some of that has to come from Matt. With the start of the season fast approaching (it will soon be here!) now is the time for the club to stir up further interest and enthusiasm to help sell more season tickets, get people to attend games or just register that Sutton United are here - ‘brand awareness’ if you like. I’ll shut up now...

Yesterdays post on the club's site clearly says:
"We will have news of signings on the playing and management side during the course of next week before everyone returns for pre-season the following week.”
So, fine. Matt is obviously not as touchy feely as Dos and prefers, at the moment, to keep his cards close to his chest. Also fine.
I know I don't have to read this forum (before someone fires that back at me) but all this 'Dos used to..', 'Dos would have...' is geting pretty tedious, imo. He's gone, guys. It doesn't matter what he would or wouldn't have done. Give Matt a chance. If results go poorly, that's the problem time. So far, there is no problem. It's just different.

With all the goings and as yet very few comings and the club with the statement of Your Club Needs You I am wondering should I buy a new pair of boots . Maybe not

Personally wouldn’t be bothered if he didn’t say a word to the media/fans if he puts a decent side together. And I’m sure he won’t be like that anyway. I think it’s early to jump to conclusions on how he communicates, his side hasn’t even played a game yet. More than prepared to give him time. Separately discussing the progress of the squad is pretty normal.

....will Pickles find it!!!! In fact Pickles never found it. It was a made up story ! A ransom was paid to recover it but the FA never wanted to admit to that !

I thought it was the World Cup that was stolen and was found by Pickles in 1966.
