Both the above could be the reason. Thanks

Its strange that the Chelsea first team squad recently played an exhibition match in the states and insisted that it was played on a grass surface rather than a 3G. They then send their U23 side to play at a ground with a 3G. Don't forget they're preparing for a Cup Final - probably on grass. I think there is more to it. EPL and EFL players continue to believe the myth that they are more likely to suffer injury on 3G than on grass. The PFA the FA and Loughborough university all collate stats on this topic. This covers pros training-ground injuries which may be on 3G pitches as well as the hybrid pitches which many clubs play on and describe as just 'grass'. If 3G was found to be more dangerous - boy would you hear about it! The fact that no stats are published to back up this myth means it isn't provable.

Anecdotal of course, but the most serious injuries suffered by our players in recent seasons that I can think of have been on grass (e.g. Ross Worner at Torquay, Tommy Wright at Leyton). With over half our matches on 3G you'd think we would have noticed if it caused more injuries. I mean, we have had quite a few injuries recently, but I don't think there have been more on 3G than grass.

Matt Gray mentioned in his interview with Tony at the weekend that we are now opening our pre-season programme with a behind-closed-doors friendly at Millwall on Tuesday week.

Given that it's Millwall, behind closed doors is a very wise move. Here's hoping for an injury free fixture.

Sutton lost 2-0 this morning at Millwalls training ground in a behind-closed-doors match to kick off our pre-season schedule. We seemingly have a few members of last seasons squad nursing knocks at the moment as a lot of trialists and academy players were fielded alongside the more household names of Collins, Barden, Davis and Dundo.

After a "friendly" against Millwall, I suspect a couple more of our squad will be "nursing knocks" now.

My other team's West Ham, so we have a bit of history. Saying that, I've met a few Millwall fans in a non footballing context and they've all been sound. Never thought I'd end up supporting a team that played them in a friendly.

It won't be the first time we've played them in relatively recent times. I think you might be about 25 years out of date Trev

A quarter of a century ago I was still a season ticket holder at Upton Park so I was blissfully unaware of such traumatic events. I knew nothing about Sutton United FC then. In those days, I probably thought the amber and chocolate was an ice cream flavour.

I’ve been to the London Stadium once, I’m not sure I will return!

My experience was very similar to yours, Stewart. I went to the London Stadium twice, found it a joyless, soulless experience, and I've never been back since. Like you, I very much doubt I ever will. Fortunately, it coincided with the period when my wife and I moved to Sutton and discovered this rather brilliant club right on our doorstep. I've never looked back since.

I went to the London Stadium a couple of times during the last RWC (Ireland v Italy & 3rd place game Boks v Argentina) and would have to agree with both of you. They should've bitten Spurs's hands off when they offered to bulldoze it and rebuild from scratch.

In terms of friendlies, we officially start on the 13th July - how does this compare to other seasons date wise? I remember once we had a friendly against Epsom and Ewell I think in late June once.
Although the club may have got a little confused about when our next home game is. It's like we don't want the locals to know we're playing Dulwich...
