Ok final ever post from me. This is the most discourteous thread possible to me and my family! In eleven years I always put the club first! There are no conspiracy theories, my parents health and mine came first for once! I fully intended to return, and agonised over my decision for weeks. In the end I couldn’t commit to the four hour drive, four times a week. Yes I got the Havant job, it’s perfect for me logistically and yes I made people aware that I wanted to stay in Hampshire for my next job. Yes I will sign players that Matt has chosen not to sign only if I think they will help me win football matches, and of course I will sign other players that used to play for me in the past as well because I know their character and trust them The accusation that I left the club because we had gone as far as we could is ridiculous, similarly Sir Alex Ferguson wouldn’t of achieved as many points as we got with twelve first team players suffering long term injury. We chose not to replace/loan anybody as we didn’t want to go over budget, and I think the team performed a minor miracle finishing tenth without so many quality players unavailable. The reality check is we finished above full time clubs with enormous budgets such as Chesterfield and just competing in the National League is an achievement. Matt Gray is an inspired appointment who should be backed wholeheartedly and when we get to the magical 50 point total next season be applauded. I didn’t want to make a fuss when I left the ground overshadowing the teams performance that day, but I am coming up to the first midweek game that I can to say goodbye properly. As always I’m happy to answer any questions on that night but those answers won’t be any different to what I’ve already said. I hope you all have a great summer and look forward to seeing you at the ground next season. Dos 💛 That one small word says it all.

There are times in life when hard decisions have to be made and family and health are the overriding parameters and I think that most of Sutton United supporters understand this.

The curse of social media is that firstly, people seem incapable of self-regulation and put out things that should not be put into the public domain; secondly, people sometimes think that a couple of people's comments are representative of the thoughts of the total population.
I posted on a previous thread that after all he had done for the club, Dos had earned the right to expect us to believe what he said. Yet a few idiots still question his honesty and even bigger idiots are stupid enough to question it on public forums.
We are all sad that he has left, but disappointment does not excuse crass behaviour.

It's ironic that the worst debut post in this forum's history has prompted the best final post in this forum's history.
It's beyond the realms of credibility that one of the most candid managers in football gets accused of being economical with the truth. We couldn't have asked for a more accessible manager and we have no right to expect this level of accessibility. And how many football managers come onto unofficial forums in order to address the fans directly? I suspect they can be counted on the fingers of one hand.
Dos has amber and chocolate blood in his veins, make no mistake.
And somehow that's still not enough for some people.
Unbelievable really.

I'm wondering, as it's a 1st post that we may have been trolled. He has had nobody join in his daft parade and it's got a big response, bigger than he could have hoped for. Not saying someone is sitting in their pants giggling while his mum makes his egg and soldiers, but it's possible. There's been times when we may have wondered what Dos was thinking during games or team selection, and that's fine, but The bullshittery re his commitment that this guy eludes to is so unjust and ridiculous that I have my doubts if it's real

At the end of the day its a public forum, people can say what they want within the guidelines of the law (i.e. non racist, homophobic, hate speech etc). Yes the OP's post was ill judged but I doubt it was just one person with question marks over the departure, I'm sure there were more, just most were smart enough to keep these opinions to themselves.
Anyway, what i really wanted to say was MASSIVE props to Dos for coming on here and setting the record straight, and sorry you felt it necessary to defend yourself at all. I'm sure any lingering doubters now have all they need from this post and various interviews to draw an absolute line under the whole thing and wish you the utmost of success at Havant and in life in general.

Really guys come on. It's the first post this person has made and because we don't agree with it doesn't make them a troll. None of us had to answer and the poster hasn't tried to stoke up the fire. It's what they believe (albeit I'd say putting 2 and 2 together to make 287). And like I've said this isn't a lone voice across social media.
Mr Frake is right when he said it's done. If you believe he is a troll then he's been successful as we're all feeding it. We're all pretty sensitive at the moment and will continue to be until the fog has cleared about the man at the helm and the squad for next season (see my previous post about a meet the manager). But in the meantime it's going to take time for people to move on so I expect we won't see the last of this sort of opinion. Like I also said when we start getting good news from the club this will fade, emotions will calm and we can look forward. Just don't expect that today.

I think a lot of us have been experiencing some really strong feelings - after all, something amazing we have gone through together has suddenly ended after 11 years. I think it's sensible to acknowledge those feelings exist and one or two people have maybe lashed out a bit because they're feeling hurt by the loss of something so special. Dos could have personally visited each fan and explained the situation and some people would still have felt hurt and let down because that's just how the loss of a wonderful thing has affected them. That's natural and very human, but it's just a shame that Dos who is also a human being with feelings has unfairly caught the brunt of some people's emotional reaction. It doesn't help that we have no matches to go to at the moment and let off steam by yelling in support of our team.

Actually I do now have an interest in what Havant are doing. £99 for a season ticket seems reasonable. I am also interested in the 4 new players being announced this evening. Always will be a Sutton supporter of course but would have considered visiting Havant but for the 2 hour drive.

I don't think Dos needed to come on here to explain anything, he doesn't owe the club or fans anything, we have probably damaged his health, wrecked his home life, and I am surprised we are not getting sued by the family Doswell.
As I have tried to say its time to move on, too many just moping around saying thats it relegation etc etc. Its just ludicrous, its also disingenuous to Matt, he hasn't done anything wrong yet. What I am looking for is a bit more injection of optimism and positive spin from the club. It would be good if Bruce could do a meet the manager or board evening or similar to put minds straight.

There will be a meet the manager evening, but no date has been set yet. It would make more sense to do this when Matt has had a chance to re-shape his squad.
