Just listened to the latest Top flight time machine podcast and they're telling a story about a time KK played at Sutton and a ball boy swapped shirts with him and played the last 5 mins. Was anybody there? Before my Sutton life

I think you must be referring to a testimonial game played in 1989 for the benefit of Tony Rains & Micky Stephens. It was a match played between a Sutton Past & Present XI and a Bob Bevan/Kevin Keegan Celebrity XI. My records show that the Celebrity XI ran out 7-3 winners and my one abiding memory of it was Keegan scoring with a bullet header from the edge of the box.

I was at that game.At one point Keegan was through on goal with nobody around and called on the ball boy behind the goal to come on and knock it in.
The boy was Colin French , son of a friend and work colleague of mine at William Hill,Alan French. He (Alan) was a member of the 1960/1970's band Dr Marigold's Prescription.
The only other thing i remember about it was that actor Karl Howman played.I saw him just the other night in an episode of Van Der Valk.

I was at the game, sadly no real recollection, apart from the fact that its was one of the few occasions my wife came to a game, and that was only to see Kevin Keegan!

I was sure we had covered this incident on here before but after much searching cannot find anything.
I was the organiser of the ball boys at the time and as billy says it was Colin French. However, the scenario was slightly different to what was described above. The ball went for a throw in on the Collingwood Road side and Kevin Keegan went and swapped shirts and places with Colin who was over there. The game restarted and shortly after the ball was hit high into the box for the goalkeeper (Rick Collier I think) to catch. He 'mishandled' and the ball went to Colin for him to score.
In the corridor by the changing rooms after I got down there as KK was asking Colin if he could keep the ball boy top. Colin said yes, who wouldn't, so Kevin turned to me and asked if I could give it to the correct person, not knowing that he just had.
One other thing from that night was in the very crowded bar afterwards he got up on a table or chair and made a speech. Guess it was about the players whose testimonial it was but I always thought that was an excellent gesture as he didn’t have to do it after fulfilling his playing commitment that night.

Don't remember the game a great deal. One thing I do remember is walking up Collingwood Road with a couple of mates and a Vauxhall Omega pulling up along side us. The passenger window went down and a voice said "Excuse me lads do you know where Sutton United is" - it was Dave Bassett the then Wimbledon manager. We gave him directions to which he replied "jump in I'll give you a lift it'll be easier!"

Cheers Stewart. Dismissed the thread title back then without checking and the fact i used another account. Should be more thorough.
Looking at my comments 12 years ago and yesterday it looks like the events are ingrained in my brain although the keeper being Rick Collier was a last minute recollection just before I posted.
