The most depressing season ?! What rot! Relegation from National South is miles out in front, and look what happened after that .

Done, Basically we do not deserve to stay up based on failing to win any important games, we always freeze and run out of ideas. first goal said it all and came with a Sutton ribbon on it for them. Can see the same in the last two games.. Back down to where we belong I am afraid, unless we can find some substantial investment, that is where we will stay and beyond. Not that I mind too much, This has been the most depressing season ever, so do we really want to stay up anyway? Now to rebuild a new side. I imagine Steve will be behind it and its all down to him now in how we cope with a brand new team in the Nat League. Small life line in that If Mansfield win mid week them MK Dons have nothing to play for in their last game. Other than that I have little hope. But I think Colchester and Grimsby are substantially better sides than we are, bottom line. Well I really wanted to stay up. Unfortunately we have been punished for not starting the season on time. There are several worse sides than us right now - Crewe, Accrington, Newport probably amongst a couple of others, but it’s over the season that counts. Let’s hope we can put a good side together for next season, no reason why we can’t have a decent one.

Ok no relegation season is fun, but lets face it, back then it was all about bouncing back, this is all about saying good bye to an opportunity that is likely never to come back again. I do not fault the players effort, or the club officials for that matter, They have all probably kept us clinging to hope longer than most in their position. I am hoping next season we can win more games, and if that is the Nat League then so be it.

I’d say the chance of survival has now dropped to around 5%.
The second half was not good and the other results did not go our way. It’s now impossible to catch Grimsby and we’re effectively relying on those worthless Colchester losing at least 3 of their 4 remaining games to give us a chance. More likely they would need to lose all 4 as I don’t see us picking up 6 points.
I may feel slightly more positive after Tuesday night, but i’m not counting on it.

I imagine Steve will be behind it and its all down to him now in how we cope with a brand new team in the Nat League. We have hade investment in the club⚽️⚽️ But nothing comes for free, we do not generate enough so unless its a generous fan supporting our bank account or some green energy tycoon with loads of sponsorship pals, then the most important thing next year will be to chip away at that red. I think if we can steady our ship and finish mid table next year, I would be delighted. I am doubtful we will see the same players here (possibly some of the loans we have seen and 3 or 4 defenders). So its going to be like it was pre season this season, lots of out goings and lots of incomings. With Forest Greens wallet and the likes of Bromley and a few of the other full time sides, I think a challenge for promotion next season might do us more harm than good, and a season of consolidation and confidence building may be what the doctor orders. We might live to fight in the league another day but lets not forget who we are and do ourselves in trying to get back there.. that's how I see it. Maybe a very boring and pragmatic view.

Looking at today's results it's hard not to conclude that Colchester and Grimsby want to stay in this league more than we do. 🤨
We were the better side kicking down the slope in the first half. But too often our deliveries were aimed at Harry Smith's head, and he just wasn't making any decisive contacts. When we tried something different just before the interval, a low ball in to Harry Beautyman, he scored.
It was good to go in 1-0 up at half-time, but it should have been by more, and the fragility of a slender lead was exposed in the second half. Slack defending by Omar allowed a cross to come in for their equaliser. And then some dubious officiating helped them to a second. A nice finish from Deon Moore (his fourth goal in two games!) brought us level, but that wasn't enough. Harry S had a presentable opportunity to score a winner in stoppage time, but he put the chance over.
Grimsby now need just one point from three games to be sure of safety and, even if we win our last two matches, we'd be relying on Colchester stumbling. Our precarious position isn't down to today's performance; too many points were thrown away earlier in the season.

A frustrating match that, one up at half time then one one just after the break, so what was said at halftime goes out the window and then two one down, yes kept going and got the draw, but that is not enough and for me they were poor goals and with Colchester winning not a good day.
If we do go down, we must keep moving this club forward, I hear what Paz is saying about finance but we have come a long way especially with the infrastructure of the club and the running of it, yes there’s moor to do but I think that we must not stand still and keep striving to make this club even better. I’m sure the board will do its best because they are good people and I’m sure they won’t let the club slide. ⚽️⚽️⚽️

Terrible reffing for the 2nd, a proper assist for the official.

Unfortunately from a financial perspective, it can’t look too good. Aside from the parachute payments, which might cover the players wages, expect smaller gates, no tv revenue and carrying substantial debt from our time in league 2. Of course the recent share issue might have raised some new capital which could go some way towards this but I wouldn’t be surprised if belt tightening was the order of the day.
