First of all apologies for the outburst towards the game. Unnecessary and probably woke half of Northolt up as well Earlsmead itself!
My frustrations, as ever, were delivered a the ref, who, hardly distinguished himself before the last ten mins, when like me he lost the plot. First he failed to give a foul for a clear shove and Boro almost (probably should have) scored from the resulting move. Secondly, he then missed another shove on BWG and as a result Karl gets booked for a foul & BWG for dissent. Fortunately, as Hon Sec says, both are still ok for the CT match at present (I've checked too!).
Perhaps he read Dave Howell's programme notes re the match at GGL. For an experienced player & manager, I found his comments a tadge naieve. The match may not have been violent but the simple fact of the matter is, 2 of his players that night made rash, bookable challenges while on yellow cards. The first yellows may have been harsh but the indiscipline of the two Boro' players meant they walked. Simple! I pointed this out to a Harrow official in the bar after the game and suggested he view the video of it. He walked off without any comment.
As for the match, well I went there with a point in mind and that's what we got. Certainly not vintage U's but credit to Harrow who have given us two tough matches. They may lack quality, particularly in front of goal but their direct, fast paced style certainly caused us problems. Once again Scrivs was excellent and I thought Kes was outstanding at the back too.
We had a couple of good opportunities but didn't take them and with Boro's wayward finishing 0-0 was probably right.
One other point. You have to credit Howell and his team's motivation when they run out to see such a poor home support week in week out. Fair play to the band of volunteers who do their bit for Harrow. I've not been a fan of theirs since that Trophy incident back in 1983 but some of the faces around Earlsmead have been there for years and the club still keep churning out half decent teams on what must be very little income.
Wealdstone are on the up and it wil be another tough game on Saturday.
