By the time we get to host a World Cup, I will either be dead or at the very least be incapable of wiping my own arse.

And the 2022 World Cup will be held in that well-known football hotbed, Qatar.

That honorable bastian of all that is wrong with the game we love, has managed to be bribed yet again into giving to the highest bidder. I'd actually tell them to stick their World Cup where the sun doesn't shine.

Unfortunately for fans of eking out vote rigging and corruption this outcome means they can claim to have sent the World Cup to new places and new people whilst developing new facilities.
FIFA is massively corrupt so they'll love Russia...
As it happens I thought the England bid video was pretty weak, not seen anything else from the bid yet but the desperate attempt to cram in somebody from every part of the world and the delusion that Premier League is superior to everything was a bit weak.
Maybe it's because I'm not left bursting with pride at the end like many England fans seemed to be that it left me cold.
It would go some way to explaining why nobody else voted England too.

Russia wins 2018 world cup England out in first round 3am Kick offs what fun !!! Why will it be 3am kick-offs? The most easterly stadium will be in Yekaterinburg which is only 5 hours ahead of us Sure it's disappointing, but Russia have never had it before so why shouldn't they get the chance? www.russia2018-2022.com/en/the-bid/host-cities/yekaterinburg.aspx - I'd rather watch games in Russia than Milton bloody Keynes anyway!!

I don't mind the WC going to a new nation, but Russia is completely corrupt, you do get the sense that it was not exactly an even playing field.

Prehaps a united bid would be a winner. But would our Welsh (Medi) and Scottish (Gareth) be happy with that? I'm glad I saw a little of 1966, because this nation, will not host this competition again in my life.

Come on it was/is a level playing field, we could have used bribes too - probably been cheaper than what we actually did!

By the time we get to host a World Cup, I will either be dead or at the very least be incapable of wiping my own arse. This country will NEVER host another World Cup. The FA is far too unpopular around the world. And we're not likely to try again in a hurry after today are we? Nothing says "Don't you people get it? F*CK OFF!" like 2 votes out of 22 (and one of those was from our bloke!).

I'm glad I saw a little of 1966, because this nation, will not host this competition again in my life. We've got to find a way of qualifying somehow!! ;D As it looks like the England bid only got one other vote, it's obvious a change of tactic is required. Presumably the 2026 tournament will be in either Oz or the Americas so it'll be the Centenary Cup the next time it comes to Europe. I don't think either the SFA or FAW would object to a joint bid and it may have more appeal to the FIFA delegates?

Well I totally see why they went for Russia - new territory, big place, and really no more of a risk than South Africa. Corruptness aside, I think it was the right thing. I'm not a fan of joint bids, and although England would have been the 'safe bet', you have to realise that they are a bit of a laughing stock on the world stage.
The real news is Qatar - flimsy bid with some random waffle about bringing the arab nations together in a TINY country with a population the size of Birmingham. For it to be global it should have gone to the Aussies (the other three did it far too recently to be taken seriously). The Qataris are now looking at climate controlled stadia which they have not built so players dont have to face 40C heat. To me, thats just a little daft

The Welsh sports press were already referring to England's bid as our bid. That said, the majority of the Welsh sports press are arse licking, star struck morons so it wasn't a surprise.
A UK bid would be decent but you'd upset English clubs who would assume hosting a game was their right. Wales have four usable stadiums with some work at Wrexham. Parc y Scarlets would be a good training base too.
FAW is a joke as well though!
