I am soooooo glad that I missed the last relegation season. The only contact I had was text messages for goals, H/T and F/T scores. Together with a verbal update later on the telephone and reading on-line reports and views from the terraces. The last 2 and a half seasons have helped my re-habilitation nearly as much as my medication. I am still a pessimist, still think that there is an oppo goal in their next attack and still wonder why I go every week but at the end of the day I would rather watch us lose than hear about it via texts. I have still to miss a competitive game this season (cue for me catching the flu ) and if we are in the BSS next season I will try my hardest to be at Weston and all other points of the compass. Because that is what I do and once you have the bug it never leaves you. Dooes that answer your question Billy? PS when the Foxes played a pre-season at GGL I sponsored the ball, had a chat with Micky Adams and was confused for 90 minutes on which team I was watching. ;D What question ? I didn't realise that i'd asked one............

I am in awe at the dedication shown by you boys (and girls) it's all i can do to walk 500 yards around the corner.
As someone who is an ex football fanatic both as a player and spectator i can understand the "why" in anyone's fanaticism/devotion.
I'm still a cricket and music nut , for example i've seen Bob Dylan in concert 126 times in 12 different countries and never miss a ball of a Surrey home game.
Watching every game in this league seems to me to be taking it up a notch though. If you've done it for forty years surely it must register that you are now watching a totally different type of game.
Having said that i admire you and all older supporters more than anyone filbert. You've been involved for even longer than i have and to still have that enthusiasm is commendable.
Just looking at your team Leicester i note that in 1960/61 their goal difference was 87/64 , last season it was 61/45 and in the last ten years they've had no less than twelve managers.
As people keep telling me - the game has changed.

I would like to add a rider to your eulogy, as I did not watch a Sutton game between Feb 1968 and October 1988. Playing football and too many wives!!

One of my best mates at school (1965/1970) was a Leicester supporter so i got it chapter and verse from him ! Especially as he had the misfortune to sit next to me , being put there by alphabetical order.
I remember Graham Cross was a very good Cricketer/Footballer.

How many wives if i'm not being too nosy ? Too many. Also Chris Baldersone was a decent footballer too. I remember him batting one day and in the evening playing for Carlisle.

I saw him at The Oval in 1976 playing for England. The game when Holding got lots of wickets and Viv Richards and Dennis Amiss made double centuries.

Joe Gatting currently plays for Whitehawk and Sussex CCC. He previously played for Brighton but now concentrates on cricket
