I'm with Frakey on that one - the momentum of a club being promoted builds a team spirit where teams can fly up division - historically its happened (although less so in the modern money filled era), and is evident now with Blackpool in the Premiership (and remember Readings and Wigans first season in the top flight). All the current results tell me is that the Ryman premier will probably be the closest fought in 5 years, since Hampton just pipped Bromley to the title.

What a crap statement that is! Loads of clubs over the years at various levels of football have been promoted & then contested the title at the higher level the following season. Some have the audacity to strengthen in the summer. Bury for instance signing Scowcroft. What: Lowerstoft, Bury and Concord all being promoted and all looking for a playoff spot? The results against Connie sth sides plus the scattering in our league point to poor quality SORRY! And 2 of last years newcomers , Aveley and Kingstonian both got a play off place. And the previous year Dover won it after coming straight up, plus Dartford missed out on a play off place virtually last game of the season. The scattering in the league is showing there is no team head and shoulders above anyone else. Unlike the last few years. The poor performance in cup competitions is not an indication of a poor league. 8 times out of 10 you'd have expected a team in the league above to beat a team below them. And this is pretty much what happened. Its only a valid comparison if you are looking horizontally and seeing how Ryman league teams fair against Zamaretto premier teams. I don't know the stats on that, but I would hazard a guess that it was pretty equal there

WTF has the CS got to do with the RP? Anyway, since going up both Dover & Chelmsford have challenged & AFCW went up too.
One-off matches in cups are no guide either. Cup shocks happen because of that.

And Dartford and especially B/W have failed to make any impact on the BSS this season, yet Dartford were last seasons Dover. The RP is not as strong as it was when AFCW and Chelmsford were promoted and we have seen a slow decline and gap widen since then.

The SSC is beginning to look a damp squib. K's, Palace & us out already. Now Woking are out. Leaves T&M and Robins in as the highest placed clubs.
Also H&Y chucked a 3-0 lead away at home to R&D.

The RP is not as strong as it was when AFCW and Chelmsford were promoted and we have seen a slow decline and gap widen since then. Slow decline? Based on the fact that Dartford and Boreham Wood have failed to make an impact? Staines and Dover are both easily established CS south clubs, and they were promoted TWO seasons ago. I'd say that was a very quick decline then and a chasm suddenly appearing out of nowhere. I think you need to look at 3 of the bottom 4 of the Conf Premier - Histon, Hayes and Eastbourne. All Conf south teams when we were. ALL struggling to make an impact at a higher level. My opinion is that yes the Ryman league is not as strong as before the Conf North and South came along, but then a new tier was shoe horned in between. I personally think that there is no indication whatsoever that a gulf has developed between the Ryman and the CS, and that there has been any sort of 'slow decline'.
