SUFCtv: Didn't have any highlights to make this week, and you know what they say about idle hands?
It might lighten the mood a little:

we pay money to be entertained,so if it falls short as it seemed to on Saturday ,you should have a right to have a "go".As long as it's not personal abuse, about that player, but the way he is playing on that occasion

It's the personal abuse that bothers me. But actually, any form of negativity can demotivate players. We're getting ourselves into a vicious circle: poor performance leads to negativity, which can adversely affect performance, and so on. We saw it happen in 2007-08, although the problems on the pitch were far worse and not really our fault! It's a valid argument that having paid for a product we can expect it to be of good quality. But the way we respond often doesn't do us any favours. Yelling abuse or negative feedback isn't going to make players go "oh they're not happy with me? Right, I'll show them what I can do!" Perhaps we like to think it does, but it doesn't. It's more likely to make them think "why should I bother trying to perform for these guys if that's how they are going to treat me?" It's hard to perform in a negative atmosphere. With any other commodity or service I can think of, if we receive a sub par service or goods then we raise a complaint with the manager, supervisor or complaints department. I think the reason why we don't do that here is that we have a huge emotional investment in SUFC and the frustration and sometimes anger we feel at having all our time, money and energy seemingly wasted. We are all different and deal with it in different ways. For example, I remember bursting into furious tears at Kingsmeadow when the Ks thrashed us 6-0 in the FA Trophy semis back in 2000. I wouldnt do that now I'm a proper grown-up and I wouldn't expect any of you to do that either All I'm saying is that it might help to try and channel our frustrations differently. If it really builds up in me, I tend to shout "come on Sutton" at the top of my voice. Maybe that doesn't work for everyone. I don't want to sound sanctimonious or holier-than-thou but I'd be really happy to see everyone express their frustrations in a more considerate manner.

Please forgive me for invading your forums guys but i just wanted to say that it was a real pleasure having you down to stonebridge road on Saturday. Your fans were laughing and joking with us and have good chat with us in the bar before the game and during half time. personally i didn't think you deserved to be 2 down @ half time as i thought you played the better football in the 1st half and definitely the best team that as been to Stonebridge road so far this season. i also believe that you will be in the playoffs @ the very least come end of the season. Chin up Guys because from what i saw of you Saturday you got lot to look forward to. Ebbsfleet United Fan

Missing players obviously affected our overall performance but it was an entertaining game - albeit that Sutton lost.

Wow!!Take a few days off the forum as it's been a bit manic at work and it all kicks off. I wasn't at the game on Saturday as I was at Wembley for the boxing (where a Sutton fan, Ricky Boylan, won his 12th straight fight)and it doesn't appear I missed much as far as the game goes apart from a huge debate here about abuse/motivation (here we go again).
I will admit that I have been known to throw a few disapproving shouts about if things are not going well but I don't single out a player for such insults. Not sure how many will agree with me but I will sometimes be guilty of shouting "Come on lads, this is rubbish/crap/much worse language, step it up" rather than "Mr ?? Your are not good enough" and I feel OK with myself doing so.
It is a team game and if things are not working out, they have to stand together and take any stick as a team (collective responsibility as they call it in politics). When we win, players who have not contributed much are happy to take reflected glory after the game so they need to stand together and face our disappointment when they lose.
As for Sallycat's suggestion of approaching Dos, I couldn't agree more (although he would probably not welcome us all turning up at once). I have spoken to Dos occasionally after games or when he first arrives at the ground before the next match and he is never anything more than honest and happy to explain what he is doing and where the team may or may not be living up to our expectations. Remember Tonbridge away when he called us all out to chat. We never did too bad that season if memory serves.
No doubt a good win in the cup will cheer us all up.
