Sutton play an improved Weston on Saturday. After starting the season with five consecutive defeats Weston's form has improved with just one defeat in four games. However after two good performances against Gosport and Ebbsfleet Sutton fans should be confident the side will come away with at least one point and secretly expecting more

Our recent record at Weston isn't great, but if we want to get into a play-off place then this is the sort of fixture we need to win.

Why isn't Spillane on the bench. He is quality.

....F/T WSM 0 Sutton 2.....................3 valuable points Significant win for us today at Weston which looks a good result given their recent upturn in form. Other results went our way as well meaning we're just three points short of the play-offs at the moment. How was our performance today?

Our second longest trip and traffic on every major road certainly made the trip down to WSM feel like it.
The home side started the best but Worns was equal to everything, making one fine low stop to his left and exhibiting confident handling.
U's grew into the game though but it took a fantastic strike from Bedsente to give U's the lead. It was a quality goal. The second was nothing to sneer at either. Like Bedsente, Tom Bolarinwa made the space and fired a lovely left footer low into the corner.
The second half saw U's consolidate rather than go for the jugular. Craig eastmond found the woodwork for the second game running while Ross was the busier of the 'keepers but dealt with everything he had to do comfortably.
A good three points at a ground where we have not always delivered. Once again Bedsente and Craig E were outstanding in the middle of the park while the defence recovered from a slow start to provide a solid display. Big well done to Craig McAllister for a great performance up top.
On the down side, Dan Spence picked up a yellow for his only foul of the match (that i recall) and becomes the 5th U's player to suffer a suspension. Not a great stat this early in the season. Tom B also got booked the result of some poor refereeing. Overall the ref did ok but made some odd decisions against both teams but none were to influence the match, unlike some recent officials.

Craig eastmond found the woodwork for the second game running I now make that 10 times this season we have hit the woodwork, surely that is a record in 11 matches without one bouncing in or coming back to a U's player??? And just the 1 Dartford effort being our only woodwork savour.

Yup, a solid performance from Sutton illuminated by two very good goals. This was not unlike Maidstone's 2-0 win at GGL on the opening day, with the visiting side doing enough defensively to keep a clean sheet while capitalising on limited opportunities at the other end.
We survived early pressure from Weston before taking the lead following good work from ex-Seagull Ross Stearn down our right wing. From his cross we kept possession in and around the oppo penalty area before the ball fell to Bedsente Gomis who lashed it into the top corner. Ten minutes later it was 2-0, this time from a more direct attack down the right, with Tom Bolarinwa rifling the ball home. The second half, as Mark F says, was mostly about preserving our lead and we held on fairly comfortably. With only one goal conceded in the last three games - and that to the divisional leaders - our defence seems to be tightening up.
Today's victory only takes us up one place to 11th, but we're now only three points off a play-off place. We could do with stringing two or three league wins together - but attention now switches to the FA Cup.

I watched a game last season where the home team hit the woodwork 5 times and ended up losing 2-1. If that were to happen to Sutton you wouldn't just be whining, you'd be apoplectic!

Looking at it from a scientific point of view, on average 1 in 4 balls off the woodwork should go in...
