OK, let's start looking ahead to Saturday. Sutton have had quite a tough start to the season (we're 8th, having already played all of the top seven), but between now and mid-January all but one of our league fixtures are against sides in the bottom half of the table. Nothing can be taken for granted, but I'd suggest that if we're going to make the play-offs then we need to have staked a place in the top five by 16 January - when we travel to Maidstone for my birthday fixture. That run starts at home to H&Y who sit 16th in the table and are now managed by Garry Haylock - who had a brief spell at Sutton towards the end of his playing days. H&Y won 1-0 at GGL last March in what was one of our worst performances of a disappointing season. We're a much better side now, but need to start winning regularly on home plastic. Will this be the game to kick-start an assault on the play-off places?

We've spent the vast majority of the season so far within a couple of games reach of the playoffs and if it wasn't for all the draws (most of which should have ended in victories and can therefore be counted as 'two points dropped' we'd be in the playoffs, that makes me confident that when we make that step up and start consistently winning games we can push forward and start moving up towards the top of the table (provided none of the other teams around us follow suit), the upcoming fixtures look very promising for that and this period could be where our season is made.

Very good post I agree on every point, a game we should win. Don't forget the new Club Chaplain is giving an address to commemorate Remembrance Day. I will be followed by the playing of the Last Post around 2.45 and a minutes silence before the game.

1001 if you turn up, billy ! However Hayes & Yeading aren't known for their massive away support recently.

What should we do instead of what we do now, Billy?
If we don't count season tickets in the gate, the announced crowd will be way too low - low by more than it has been too high, I would have thought. And those people have paid to watch the game, anyway.
You must have a better idea. Why would you moan and whinge about how things are done if there's no better way of doing them? So come on, why are you keeping your brilliant ideas from the club that could be benefiting from them?

The fact that he is bringing it up at every available opportunity suggests to me that either he has an inability to let things go or it's just attention seeking, either way I very much doubt your plea for his all knowing judgment will be fruitful.

He's the latter. Turns up for half a game and then has an opinion on everything, generally in ignorance too. Just here on a wind up.

Hemel v Eastbourne has been called off today because of a waterlogged pitch. Hemel are just a point above us, so a win would take us above them to 7th (6th if Bath lose at Stortford).

Someone will have to point him out to me sometimeI don't go very often nowadays, though i have been to the last three home games as i'm enjoying watching football on the new pitch, which i think is brilliant. I always sit in roughly the same place in the stand. A couple of rows from the back, up behind the away team dugout.If you want to talk to me please come and say hello.If you want to hit me please don't bother !

The lads put in a load of effort but unfortunately spurned a number of chances ; Stearne and Fleetwood sometimes going for glory went a pass or chip mayhave been more fruitful;
my girlfriend came to GGL for the first time and thought the speed of the game and agility of the players made for an exciting contest.
we will surely get a run of wins going soon that will lift us up the table.
