What happened to Fitch? I saw that Fleets started and that Twitter said we only had 4 subs!

Pretty poor in a difficult wind. Not sure why we didn't have the confidence to pass it a bit more. Much easier than hoofing in the wind. The only times we put a few passes together I think we actually opened them up pretty easily, down the right particularly. Quiet games for many. They are an ok side. The defence did their job and they didn't look much like scoring except for one good long range effort from them first half then the injury time header that looked in all the way! In a game of few chances Stearn missed a sitter that probably would have been enough in a tight game. We also looked fairly dangerous from Wish corners first half, maybe we'll get some change with them 2nd time round. I'd expect another close game but we should go with confidence and I'd expect a better performance.

So much for Delboy's expectations. Always going to be a tough game especially missing three players including two forwards. The weather of course did not help and neither side did enough with the wind or without it, so a draw probably right.
First half Dundo had a difficult volley, Stearny forced the 'keeper into saving with his feet but then blasted the best chance over the ba after great work by Fleets. Ross W made one fine save and Prior couldn't convert the follow up.
Second half they fared better with the wind on their backs. Ross W had to clutch one attempted lob while at the other end Tom B made some in roads but U's efforts mainly failed to hit the target. Bognor had one late chance but the header was stopped by a fine defensive header.
Didn't think we got much out of Mr Rock today, a slim line Mr Rock too, but can't complain about any of our cautions.
Too close to call on Tuesday in what should be a calmer night on the south coast. Hope Craig Eastmond is ok but we are getting rather low on numbers.

Well that was pretty dull. Guess we have been pretty spoilt recently.
Stearn missed a sitter, a few heavy tackles and a great save from Ross at the end aside, that was incredibly boring.

Bognor were nothing special.Wind spoilt the game and the loss of Fitch was critical. Pity Dos wasn't there as i expect he would have made some tactical subs rather than none at all ! We were punchless up front i'm afraid.

Nope but having seen them play Alty, I expected a far more difficult game than the comfortable victory you was expecting and who was right in the final analysis?

I don't think some of you are giving Bognor the credit they deserve (a common practice with some individuals!). I thought they put in an excellent performance. They didn't park the bus and, in fact, probably edged it regarding chances created.
Tom was a real handful (as usual) with some lovely footwork on occasion and Ross pulled off a couple of great saves - the one in the first half was top drawer. But there were a few too many 6/10 performances today.
I'm really hoping that either Fitch or McAllister will be fit for the replay because we were certainly lacking some bite up front.

The reason we didn't win comfortably is that we lacked the quality we have become used to in the last couple of months. In truth we should have been 2 up at halftime but squandered good opportunities if not guilt edged. Credit to Bognor who stayed in the game and increasingly looked to get forward, and in the end they very nearly won it at the death. The result on Tuesday will simply depend on whether we find our quality or whether we get dragged away by a very hungry fox.

It needs to be stressed just how difficult the conditions were today. It was howling a gale for much of the game making playing flowing football virtually impossible. It also provided what benefit it offered to the side defending the Gander Green Lane end and so it largely proved on possession and chances created each half for the team attacking the new Collingwood Rd terrace. We had the better of the first half; they finished strongly.
A terrific all pay attendance of 1,258 today ( boosted by a healthy turn out from our visitors), once more demonstrating the growing support for the team who are seeing some magnificent football this season. That's eleven wins and two draws from the last thirteen matches played. Wonderful form.
We go again on Tuesday when I'm sure conditions will allow for a very different match.
See you there.

With both McAllister and Fitch injured, we were rather toothless. This was the first game for almost three months in which we failed to score. Dos's absence may also have been a factor, as we rarely win when he's away. We knew this wouldn't be easy. Bognor were at least as good as several teams from our own division. They defended solidly and shared the game's few scoring opportunities pretty evenly with us. The strong wind made this a difficult match in which to play, but it shouldn't be used as an excuse for the lack of goals. Not too many miles away, Wealdstone and Truro managed eight between them. Only three clubs are definitely through to the quarter-finals: Gateshead, Grimsby and Woking. So we may replay Bognor knowing only that the winners would face one of two opponents.

Blimey , attendance 1258 ! What a fantastic turnout on a wet and windy afternoon. Yes, it was buoyed by a good 350-400 away supporters. They were tremendous! We will do very well to beat them at their place on Tuesday. I would comfortably put them as favourites with it looking likely our first choice strikers will both be missing and Eastmond out as well.

It was a great crowd, Billy! As always, the Bognor fans were in fine voice.
