Barrow in fairness will not be easy to beat. Two commas required, I suggest. someone knows how to ruin a pun

Is segregation in force today? Can’t see any need for it myself...

Disappointing day. Feared the worse when i saw the teamsheet without Bailey and Davis, at least 1 of them needs to play. Plus forced to play the skip left back. Really stretched for midfield resources which probably explains the new signing! Hopefully we can come back strongly on Tuesday.

A sad way for the good run to end. Had we lost 4-0 it would have been a fair result. It was like watching 11 strangers playing together. Roll on Tuesday.

Sometimes a point gained is a good point in context with other results. Sadly we exposed ourselves at the back one time too many and paid the price.
Only created two opportunities both of which were squandered.

Interestingly Dos said earlier in the season that he would not hesitate to play Mason at left back. We looked slow at the back and with Collins out of position we do need a left back. Maybe worth a risk to start with Mason Tuesday. Do we need Taylor back now?

Didn’t enjoy that at all. A media blackout for me now. Not reading the NLP tomorrow, not watching the BT highlights tomorrow either. Will be keeping out of this site too. Taking one of my pills and will wake up on Monday.
Tuesday will be much much better. Hopefully.

We've edged some tight games lately, so maybe we were due a narrow defeat. Barrow will probably feel they deserved the three points today, having looked just about the better side over the 90 minutes, delivering several dangerous crosses. Both teams though squandered decent chances, a couple of our efforts falling just the wrong side of a post. The goal, which seemed to take a significant deflection, came late in the game, leaving us little time to get back on terms. For the record, Barrow become the first club this season to do the double over us.
In mitigation, we were missing Thomas, Bailey and Davis. That meant JC having to play at left back, with Bradley Pearce coming back into the centre of defence alongside Beckwith. New striker Dylan Kearney made his Sutton debut as a second half sub. I wouldn't want to be hard on the lad, as Dos clearly sees promise in him, but on today's evidence he needs some time to adapt to this level of football.
With Gateshead winning, we slip back to 7th. A win on Tuesday evening against Barnet would take us up to 4th or 5th.

A sad way for the good run to end. Had we lost 4-0 it would have been a fair result. It was like watching 11 strangers playing together. Roll on Tuesday. Its fair to say our luck ran out today after some somewhat fortuitous wins recently, but thats somewhat of an exaggeration. Barrow just about edged it and missed two absolute sitters but we created two or three golden chances, Collins' header from Dobson's exquisite delivery being the best. We also enjoyed near total aerial superiority in the attacking 3rd but simply didnt make enough of it, Williams' snap shot that missed by inches being the only moment that came from a knock down. My personal opinion is that Collins should be the first name on the team sheet at centre half if available, and there simply HAS to be better options than playing him at left back, even our untested youth player. Why rely on Pearce over Mason? Defence was all over the shop today, very un-sutton like performance, although Barrow did a great job of stretching us especially in the 2nd half with their front men sitting out almost on the touchlines at times, creating massive gaps between Bennett and the RCB (Pearce I think). That simply wouldnt have been an issue with JC in his usual role. Personally I would have opted for three centre halves, with Bennett RWB and possibly Harry LWB. But basically anything that kept JC at CB would have been preferable. As others have said we really missed having a shielding CM with mitchells out. Easty doesnt really like to play that role. I also have to make the observation that the more I see of Dobson the more he looks like a park player with a premier league left foot. He's slow, cant head the ball, cant defend and unless the ball is literally played at his feet you can forget it. No-one is questioning his ability from dead balls (outstanding), shooting and crossing (both excellent) but without the luxury of a holding CM he was an absolute liability today. Leaving him on instead of Harry was a gamble that NEARLY paid off (the free kick delivery), but probably cost us the game along with going gung-ho instead of settling for a point. But that's the way Dos wants us to do it and if over the course of the season you win 3 and lose 3 from games like that its more 3 points than 6 draws. Hard to have any complaints with the way the season is going and its a luxury to be talking about chasing a play off spot rather than chasing mid table or worse, but on the other hand there's been so few occasions this season we've actually played really well, grinding out results. Top league scorer is apparently Easty on 6, cant help but imagine what we'd have achieved this season with the mythical 20 goal man - even sadder when that could have been Tommy (( Special mention to Toure who was immense today. Ran himself into the ground and is getting better with every game! That little run followed by a pinpoint 50 yard diagonal ball to Jonah was something to remember!

I think Harry B went off injured. That is why subs took so long as we had to change it as was about to replace someone else with Roarie

I saw the comment above regarding Dobson, but I actually think he adds a dimention to the side we have previously been lacking, and I have been quite impressed by him overall.
Today there were mitigating circumstances, Barrow will feel that did enough to reserves the 3pts, and in truth we did little to suggest more than 1pt. Easty for me did all he could today, as did JC, but it wasn't enough to makeup for the lack of Bailey, Thomas and Davis. We just didn't create enough, and I don't think the Barrow keeper had to actually make a meaningful save.
Whilst Barrow hit the bar, and that simulation looked real enough to me at the time, U's would have had 3 penalties in the 1st half. Shirt pulling is an offence, someone should tell the ref, the Barrow lads employed it all afternoon without any redress.

Frustrating afternoon to say the least today, I felt we lacked spark and some midfield grit - injuries to Davis and Bailey from last weekend hurting us, plus Thomas absent who's been ill all week according to Dos. Like a couple of other comments - would it have been less risky to put Mason at left-back today moving Collins back to centre replacing Pearce?! I do get a little nervy when I see JC start at left-back.
I wonder if any of the coaching staff had a word with Toure and Kearney after the full-time whistle after their tempers almost flared - the last thing we need to see on the pitch!
Perhaps today was just one of those days, but looking at the other results of sides in the top 6 it looks a little bit like a missed opportunity. Here's hoping there's a bit of a reaction against Barnet on Tuesday night.
