There's normally an awkward reaction when things aren't going how we all would like but the one on twitter referencing the 2007/8 season and a direct comparison to this fifteen matches in is, imo, absoluely ridiculous. I recall when another such comment was made with regard the 2014/15 term and Dos came back saying that was an insult. The same applies here. You reminded me of that season, we got to about this stage in the season, Dos couldn't buy a win - I met Dos in the Gents before a game, he said he had run out of ideas and his only tactic was to try a lucky p*ss, It didn't work! and people moan at Matt for his tactics We got to give Matt the same space and time we would have given Dos, and for those who don't remember Alex Ferguson was one game away from being sacked at Man Utd in 1989 after a very poor start. We should all be behind our young manager, Dos said Matt was the man for the job, and who is anyone to argue? Sorry I have to disagree. Dos was more to the club that’s just a manager. We all know what he did. Matt is paid to be the manager, he is here to get us results, nothing else. Oh yes let’s compare our current manager to one of the greatest of all time, absolutely. And of course if Dos said he was the right man that couldn’t possibly be wrong.

Well my first comment since the last couple of matches produced one point.
I am obviously very much not alone in having little faith in our current manager. I believe that most of our players are genuinely honest triers. It is obviously the tactics that are letting them down.

What I am saying is, people are expecting too much too quickly from Matt. He is a new manager, he doesn't have a big budget, and he is following in the footsteps of probably the best manager the club has ever had. This guy has only had 15 games as a manager, yes we are going through a sticky patch, but that is not always answered by dumping the manager, and certainly not by heaping pressure on him from within our own ranks.

Dos was always going to be a very hard act to follow, and Matt will have recognised that when he took the job. His management style is obviously different from Dos's, and he's still learning the trade. The National League is a tough place in which to cut your managerial teeth; there are no weak teams and no easy games at this level, and the sheer number of matches is almost unremitting.
I'm worried about our form, particularly at home, although (as has been pointed out before) the malaise started last season (only two wins at GGL since Gimé Toure's late header beat Ebbsfleet on 26 January). But I think any talk of a crisis is premature. There are currently six clubs below us in the league table and seven below us in the form table.
We've got two away games this week, after which we'll have played 17 of the other 23 teams in the division. There's then a two-week break from league action, during which we embark on this season's FA Cup campaign and have the meet-the-manager evening. I'd suggest that's an appropriate window in which to take stock.
In the meantime I shall be up at Solihull and Fylde supporting the team.

I did not see this match, I always have a fixture clash at this time with another sport - where I also hold a season ticket - and this year I felt Sutton would provide less entertainment. In the last two years I have been at GGL.
My post is about the comments from those who saw it - poor crossing of the ball and bad shooting. As has been the case much of the season at home. What do we do in training? Would semi-pro players be insulted if asked to practice crossing the ball under match conditions of speed and defender pressure? The players waiting for the cross need consistency in where it will land so they can position themselves. What shooting practice players do on training days I don't know, but the pre match warm-up has then side-footing a ball into goal which is coming to them at right angles. That is not the type of chance that we get often or need to practise. The improvement is needed at running straight at goal and shooting in the direction the ball is already travelling. To keep the ball down and get some power in the shot the non-striking foot has to land with the toes ahead of the leading edge of the ball. If it lands further back: then the shot is skied or lacks power, which is the common result.

Not wishing to contradict but i'm struggling on the 6 players u21 that we fielded. Perhaps that is too many to play at any one time in a National league fixture.

I think the game that really kept Ferguson in a job that season was the final replay. Not convinced a runners up medal would've cut any ice at Old Trafford that season.

Thought Man. United finished about 12th or 13th. Villa were the runners-up in 1990.
Edit: Ah you mean runners-up in the Cup not the League. Ooops.
