This weekend we entertain last seasons National North Champions - Stockport County - a club with until fairly recently a long history in the Football League and under 20 years ago were still in Division One (nowadays the Championship). They’ve had some tough years since with various ownership problems, numerous relegations and entering administration - it looks like they’re on the way back though with last seasons promotion.
County actually started this season strongly but have lost their last five scoring just once - they are one of the few sides beneath us in the form table. Not sure why their form has nosedived - maybe any Stockport fans reading this could provide some insight. I’m probably not on my own when I say this is a game Sutton need to win really.
Having listened to Matt Grays pre-Stockport interview it sounds like we aren’t too far from a fully fit squad with a lot of fringe/squad players getting minutes in a training match yesterday.
C’mon U’s!

Obviously a little too soon to talk about must win games but this one has that feel. 6 points from the next 4 games is vital or we may well be in the bottom 4. I cant see anyone getting adrift or running away from it this year, looks very tight already and psychologically staying out of the bottom 4 may be important. Also a loss would see us averaging a point a game from the first third of the season, quite probably relegation form, while a win puts us comfortably in course for an excess of 50 points. In other words, keep our heads above water!!

Talking about a bottom 4. Are we looking at a bottom 3 with Bury's demise ?

It really wasn't that bad a game of football, just two poor teams, a poor ref and some very poor finishing. A couple of real shockers which just needed to be on target.
I think we will be good enough to finish higher than Chorley, Aldershot and Chesterfield but not sure anyone else so bury may well save the day for us. 16 points from 15 games puts us on course for 49 points, which will be touch and go but probably enough of only three go down.
Badly need a target man or to stop pumping it up to Jarvis. When we play it around we look decent.

Woeful. Playing at home and no shots on target.

OK, the shooting wasn,t great but at least we made the openings to get a shot in, which is an improvement on recent weeks. Adjiboye had another good game and we looked better when Reid came on. Solihull and Fylde not exactly in great form at the moment so must be a chance of getting a result at one or the other. What happened with Barden?

I'm assuming by the fact that gray had a fair old chat with him as he came off that he wasn't injured and it was due to the fact that stockport were clearly trying to get him sent off. The tackle for the yellow was pretty nasty. However, could have been tactical as stockport were well on top at the time. I'm sure MG will reveal all in his PM interview

I believe its 1 win in the last 9 games and today i don't recall 1 shot that the goalie had to save.
Something has to change otherwise we are in a relegation battle and we really shouldn't be.
Poor crossing, poor passing and poor shooting. As said earlier ,lumping the ball to Jarvis up front doesn't work and we are not winning headers in the oppositions box.

Stockport are a team that are struggling and at times we looked like the away side. Cannot understand how MG is happy with the performance surely we are not doing 95% right if the opposing goalkeeper does not have to make a save? No plan B and no changes in formation. Substitutions are always like for like.

Anyone taking over from Paul Doswell was bound to be accepting a poisoned chalice.Quite apart from his success on the pitch he was also working for nothing.
Mr Doswell took the club as far as possible and left.We are now in a sort of "Groundhog Day" situation (i've never seen the film but i get the idea) sort of in limbo.
We keep hearing the club is punching above it's weight.Would it be so terrible to drop a division (or two) and compete properly against some of our more traditional rivals ? Relegation might be a blessing in disguise.
