So we're 2 matches away from a new decade so I thought I'd see what our thoughts on a 2010s Sutton XI
Here's mine (and I expect some will disagree!)
GK - I think we've had 3 standout keepers in the last 10 years - Scriven, Brown and Worner. Even including the faux pas against Leyton Orient last season, I'd pick Worner.
DF - Much harder to pick - there's probably 10 I could go for out of 4, but if I had to go down to 4 (and kind of ignoring the left/right back thing) I'd go for Downer, Clough, Telfer and Collins
MF - Again, so much talent to pick from - but a midfield 4 of Beautyman, Eastmond, Bailey and Stern
FW - Tough to pick 2. Dundas HAS to be in there but who goes alongside him? Biamou? Roarie (although he's more of a midfielder anyway). I think I'd probably end up picking Tommy Wright.
The subs bench could go on for ages (from those I've not yet mentioned) - Jamie Stuart, Dan Fitchett, Sam Rents, Dan Wishart, Kes, Sam Page, Riviere, Scannell, Slabber, Louis John, Marvin, Binnsy, Beckwith, Bolarinwa, Amankwaah, Kenny Davis....
Of course if you have a best team of the decade, you could also have a "worst of the decade too" - There's plenty to pick there beyond Michael Boateng!
Maybe we can have suggestions and then put it to a poll to create the Amber Planet team of the decade?

That's a really interesting challenge. Quite a different selection process, to my mind at least, to selecting an All Time XI. Over the last ten years players have tended to stay for less time with one club so you are looking, largely, at players that have come in for relatively short periods to "do a job" for the team. Some were youngsters looking to progress, others fading stars, some at their peak and well known around the non-league scene. I think it will be fascinating to see who people pick and I can only see a handful being "automatic" choices.

One choice for me was whether to have Stearn or Deacon in, or possibly Wishart. My test was it took Wishart a long time to settle before being fantastic, Roarie we all know about but certainly raised him game for the big matches (as the entire world outside Sutton saw), but Ross was just as talented and tended to show it week in week out - of course all those 3 players earned a bigger money move because of how they played for all, and oddly all of them came back (arguably to less effect!) I'm really interested to see what others say, especially as some started following during the decade!

Worner
Bennett Downer Collins Wishart
Deacon Bailey Eastmond Ajiboye
Wright Biamou
My offering, 442. Could have easily found room for Clough, John, Beautyman, Davis.

Worner
Bennett Clough Collins Thomas (Terell)
Deacon Bailey Eastmond Beautyman
Wright Dundas
Some tough choices, and 3 centre backs and only one full back. Ask again another day and it will be interesting to see what changes I would make it was so marginal in some cases. Especially so given the number of players we have had doing a great job but at a level below the National League, so not completely clear how to compare performances at different levels in the pyramid.

I can't remember half the players that went through the revolving doors so i'll pass on this one.. Anyone care to have a shot at listing them all ? That way i have a fighting chance of picking our best 11.
Someone asked me last week if we had a player called King and i sort of remember the surname but i was told he was a striker and i thought he might have been a defender.

I've been looking back through old programmes to see if I could find any player who's been overlooked so far in this thread, but no name leaped off the page. So my rather unoriginal selection is as follows.
Worner
John Downer Collins Telfer
Wishart Bailey Eastmond Deacon
Dundas Wright

Ben King a left-back who came into the side from the academy set up (mainly due to injuries accumulated) during the latter part of the season where we painfully lost to Dover in the Conf South play-offs. Think he went on to play for Tonbridge - not sure where he’s at now.

Without wishing to appear pedantic I don't think we had an academy system back then. Ben was playing in the Suburban team under James Bracken. Think he may have played in the youth team but we signed him from a CCL club. May have been Bedfont &Feltham.

My team of the decade. Initial formation is 3-5-2
Worner
John Clough Downer
Bolarinwa Eastmond Bailey Beautyman Stern
Dundas Griffiths
Subs Scriven Collins Telfer Deacon Biamou
What a decade it’s been for SUFC. If in December 2009 whilst we were in the Isthmian League you predicted that we’d be ending the 2010s with a televised game in the Conference following a decade which saw two championships, coming close to the Football League and a record FA Cup culminating in being knocked out in the 5th round by the eventual winners live on BBC1 you would have rightly been considered crazy. Here’s to another exciting decade of forward progress!

Yes i can obviously remember 11 but i notice from the players selected so far most of them have been recent additions. So far there are also players we had who have gone on to play in the Championship and not got a mention.

So far there are also players we had who have gone on to play in the Championship and not got a mention. Yes, I noticed that too. I kind of raise an eyebrow when a player who’s been with us for just over four months is chosen for a team of the decade! People can choose who they wish of course, but it's all a bit chaotic for various starting XI's to be randomly lobbed into the ring. The more structured way of doing it is to conduct a series of polls. I outlined my thinking in a post in the GOAT thread last month: While this is all good fun, what we really ought to do sometime is have a huge set of polls to determine ‘The Greatest Ever Sutton United XI as voted for by forum members’. Off the top of my head, we could start with a period of time during which any number of players can be nominated. Then each player would need to be bracketed into which position they qualify for. Assuming 4-4-2 for convenience, there could be: goalkeeper, right-back, centre-back (x2), left-back, right midfield, centre midfield (x2), left midfield and striker (x2). Then finally we’d have a separate poll for each position.
Something along those lines anyway. Once the polls for the starting line-up are finished, it would even be straightforward to select the best 5 for the subs bench as well.
